I kind of came of age as Bush was president, (32 years old now) his presidency is what shaped my sister, protesting the Iraq War among other Bush issues, but I think when compared to Trump, he's just not nearly as utterly callous, void of any heart or empathy, Bush is spoiled kid, who made some horrible, devastating decisions, and has almost all bad ideas about policy, but he's still someone with humanity, I think, esp, in his later years. Trump is just pure nothingness and evil, and hateful racism, wheras I think Bush is more "abstract", in a sense his policies beliefs and Republican policies make him de facto racist, but he's not in the same class as Trump.

I cant believe people believe this bullshyt

The Bush administration consisted of career criminals "politicians" like Rumsfeld and Cheney, and they knew exactly how to pull political strings and manufacture agendas to suit their own bloodthirsty policies. No Child Left Behind essentially gutted inner city schools and channeled their funding to suburban white school districts who could pass the state standardized tests. The wars in Iraq tanked our economy. Introducing evangelicalism into the political mainstream combined with rapid military expenditures and expansion of the executive branch, plus nominating right-wing justices who supported Citizens United.

Not to mention the authorized use of enhanced interrogation techniques and spying unwarranted on U.S. citizens. Anyone who's seen the despicable photos from Abu Ghirab prison should never forget this man is a goddamn war criminal and should be treated as such. fukk him and his shytty ass paintings. :pacspit:

Just re-watched the Ghosts of Abu Ghraib.

If you're a person who doesn't believe that Republicans will rehabilitate Trump's image after spending 4-8 years pretending they're all civil "Never Trumpers" - you're a fool.

Bush was a horrible President on every single metric. Yet it hasn't even been 15 years yet, and they're already trying to polish him back up as an ideal Republican statesman.

i'll always remember the day of obamas inauguration. we watched it in school during my science class, and it was the first time i saw a president hand over power to the next one.

bush looked like a sad, pathetic man that day. at that point it was clear that his entire presidency had been just a series of lies, failures and incompetent decisions and the whole country wanted something else. everyone was so happy to have a new direction in the white house. i thought bush himself knew that day what a failure his administration had been as he flew off in the helicopter.

It's amazing that the rank and file of the absolute shyt show that was the Bush Administration all think their opinions on what is acceptable or not in a president and administration is warranted or welcomed :mjlol:

On the other hand....the absolute shyt show that was the Bush Administration thinks Donald Trump is too much of a disaster to stay in office :picard:

Its not purity politics. Because its not an ideological difference. Its simply reaction to Trump for some people.

You can be against Trump and hope he is out of there ASAP. But this does not mean you can't be critical of things outside the scope of Trump. If anything there is a greater danger in not doing this because you know that some Republican's whose actual policies will do more damage down the road will use the focus on Trump to fukk people over.
Exactly

I can understand why its happened even though it really doesn't make sense. If you're in the politician class, especially President, it benefits you to make amends with your predecessor and/or rivals in order to keep order and ensure that your post-political career is somewhat trouble free. It's a protective norm. GWB can walk the streets now with people not spitting on him or calling him the worst living person on the planet. :ehh:

From the outside looking in, its stupid. Bush was a horrible president by almost all metrics. That second term might have been one of the top 5 most disastrous terms in American history. We shouldn't want anyone to repeat that.

In breaking with norm, as with everything else, I do not think Trump will be afforded that grace.

it depends on what comes afterward i think.

if we have actually responsible presidents who are serious about their jobs after this point, you’re right trump will be seen as aberrational.

i’m worried that in 8-12 years this country will elect another republican who is even worse and people will say shyt like “maybe trump wasnt that bad”

like how dubya made reagan look “not that bad” to some people

now trump is making dubya look “not that bad”

the GOP just seems like its in a race to the bottom
