No particular order

Jamaican
Middle Eastern
Louisiana soul food
Mexican

#5 a tossup. The only Chinese spot I ever fukked with heavy shut down because the owner had a heart attack in his early 40s :picard: He was cool and his food was A1, RIP

I like Laotian and Burmese food more than Vietnamese food but none of them top 5 status.

Senegalese food when done right :wow: Yassa Poulet :wow:

One place I never expected to have good food was Somalia :whew: I got put on in LA a few years ago and had it again when I was in Toronto last year... the seasoning on them steaks and goat ribs :takedat:

After that there's too much different shyt to decide between.....it'd be between Jamaican, Lebanese, Chinese, at least some Japanese and Korean is hot, probably some other shyt that I haven't had enough to really rank like Belizan.

Foreign to me is non-African, so;

1) Japanese
2) Italian
3) Thai
4) Spanish (not Mexican)
5) Vietnamese

I’ve visited all of these places, except Thailand and their food is even better in the native countries

Additionally I’m vegetarian, so that plays a part into why I chose those cuisines
I actually prefer American Thai food to Thailand Thai food by a large margin.

Vegetarian but Indian food don't rank? I don't think I could be vegetarian if Indian food wasn't an option.

Not when it comes to cuisine, or even a map.

Mediterranean is largely Western European food.

Moroccan, Egyptian is never referee to as Mediterranean food

Majority of the Middle East is Arabian Sea
Nah man, my wife's Egyptian so I've eaten a ton and it is definitely "Mediterranean". Greek, Lebanese, Egyptian, they're all the exact same family with hummus and falafal and shwerma and all that. They each got their own unique aspects to them but to an outsider they're the same thing.

How much different is the Westernized Thai food from Thai food in Thailand?

it's not that different (not like Chinese or Mexican are WAY different when you get the real thing), it's just slightly different in ways that I prefer. American Thai food is more balanced, a bit richer, less heat with the spices obviously. In Thailand Thai food the individual ingredients tend to stick out more rather than being as balanced with each other, so certain flavors will be really strong rather than the flavors mixing as much. It's sort of the opposite of Indian food in that - Indians work like hell to mix and balance all their spices and ingredients perfectly so that every bite is perfectly formed, while Thais just sort of throw the shyt together so that each bite is different.

There's also a ton more pork and seafood in actual Thai food. And a LOT of fat - they don't mind eating the fat on the meat like Americans do. And they snack on bugs.

I actually thought I liked Thai food a lot until I worked in Thailand for a while and then got sick of the food pretty quick. I probably would have rated it in my top five if I had never been there.

Interesting. One thing I noticed in American Thai food is that they put way too much fish sauce in the food sometimes, that's what gives it that gross feet smell. Did you notice that in Thailand or was that not a thing? I read something that the fish sauce in the West is made with rotted fish, while in Asia they use fresh stuff without that smell. I'm not sure if that's true.

I ain't never noticed that issue in American Thai food. In Thailand they put it on your table so you can add as much as you want.

I guess Egyptians ocean is still the Med, but Middle Eastern to me is Arab food like Turkish, Afghan, etc, Iranian, etc.

As for Indian food, it unfortunately messes with my stomach. Never sure what it is but I get runny tummy and that’s even non-spicy foods
