if the movie wasn't so grossly misrepresented by the trailers, the backlash wouldn't have been as bad. going in I think a lot of ppl were expecting a heart warming, feel good story.

instead we got a very dumb, very boring, very shallow action movie.

i attended a packed midnight showing and it did not go over well at all. people were moaning, and the end credits were met with complete indifference. no applause, no nothing. on the way out you could hear ppl saying it was boring. and the 2 other ppl I went to see it with also hated it.

i had never, ever looked forward to a movie more and yet by the 40-50 minute mark I could not wait for it to be over.

would be really cool if they found a very good christopher reeves lookalike to play superman, he just had a way better look as clark imo

easily the best incsrnation of superman ever made in a visual medium.
plus, the best gateway to showcasing what a quality superman story was.
with no plot holes and devoid of the a-typically wack dc campy bullshyt.
dc, did the impossible with mos and it was the first time in my life I was pleased to see superman cause I fukking hate dc.

dawg, you are talking about the second generation superman being the son of the first superman.
that will never occur again, and looking for Christopher reeve lookalike.
who has the acting chops to be superman just will NOT EVER HAPPEN, AGAIN.
the casting of this superman was good.
still a slight against the guy from smallville.
yet, this superman worked because it explained the lapse in time and showed how superman aged.
so, I was totally pleased with superman.

:patrice:

why was young clark wearing a red cape and pretending to do the classic superman pose?

how could clark's mother assume this meant he had plans of being a superhero one day?

how can she say with an honest face "your father always knew".... when he basically preached the opposite to clark his entire life and even sacrificed himself to re-enforce it?

"my father believed that if the world found out who I really was, they'd reject me out of fear. he was convinced that the world wasn't ready."

"can you imagine how people on this planet would react if they knew there was someone, like this out there?"

^^ the whole movie is predicated on the belief that the world would not know how to react to someone like superman. an alien.

meanwhile zod and co. invade earth and threaten to kill every single person on the planet, and...

- people are still casually walking the streets instead of there being mass panic
- lois watches a debate on tv and the pundits are all calmly talking about it like it's the fukkin economy or something and not the end of human civilization as we know it.
- people are still going to to work.
- people are still dining at ihop.
- the CHURCH, the one place where you would expect ppl to flock to in time of need... is empty.

yup... these people just weren't ready.
