What's up with people hating on "Man of Steel"?

Reading through some of the other threads people act like it was a bad movie, but I thoroughly enjoyed it the first time I saw it. Decent Superman, pretty interesting story, good villain, great action scenes, and they finally gave Luthor a break and let Superman actually fight somebody as opposed to just Kryptonite traps. Was certainly leagues better than the Superman movie before it.

Why do people hate on this movie? I legitimately don't get it and am curious to know. I mean it's not "The Dark Knight" or Avengers status I suppose but it's a good movie and probably the best superhero flick of 2013.

Bad characterization, ugly cinematography,misguided tone, horrid pacing of 3/4 being action 1/4 being story. to miss the mark to that extent with superman of all things given the era we are in and the source material provided is unacceptable

I thought the fight scene with Zod was ridiculously over done, but other then that I liked it. To me it did a good job of re-introducing character and giving the story a different direction.

thats like saying getting run over is a better way to die than lethal injection.One thing has nothing to do with the other other than the fact you still die.The pedo rapists movie has nothing to do with MoS, if you judge it on its own merits it sucked for a superman movie. Too much tinkering and trying to update shyt that didnt need updating

add to that the dialogue was pedestrian, and my own personal peeve was lois not being raven-haired, sexy, witty Adventures of Superman lois. I wanted something definitive but they infused a superman story with christopher nolan's bat-trilogy DNA when the character and mythos of superman doesn't lend itself to that at all. They made batman superman begins when they should have been borrowing from All-Star Superman and Jim Lee's artwork on Batman: Hush
