The majority of human history families were raised in groups or by communities as the old adage goes.
Marrying for love, and raising children as children and not work horses is a relatively new concept.
It's based off a relatively recent interpretation of the Bible. In biblical times family life was absolutely nothing like what y'all are saying it should be today.
