You guys might not care about income but these dudes care.
Meaning they're not just gonna marry some bummy chick because they have a lot to lose.

They make enough money to where if they get divorced, their bank accounts are getting emptied but having a wife & family is a big deal.
Alimony is given when one person makes significantly less than the other.
They think a person with a family is more stable/reliable because they have a family to take care of.

So they want to make sure they marry a woman on their level or close to it.
They said they would only consider a woman that is successful and can take care of herself.
They didn't say they want a woman that makes more than them or that they want to marry up.

I don't know. I used to somewhat believe the bold but these last three months have been telling.
I'm dating an Asian in my class and she's a typical homebody, so me & a couple of my classmates go out sporadically for drinks every now & then and I've run into just as many receptive black women as any other race.
The bar we frequent isn't far from the university campus so it attracts a lot of undergraduate, professional and graduate students.
When we get to discussing plans and whatnot over casual conversation, their eyes light up when they hear I'm in med school.
It's not on the same frequency as unemployment but it isn't rainbows and sunshine, either.
I literally don't make any type of living sans the cash from financial aid and family.
Even when they pry and I tell them I'm an MS1 & won't be making a cent over 45k until 3.5 years at the earliest, they're still damn near offering to move me in after a half hour of conversation.
Black women have a rep of not wanting to be there when the guy has nothing and is "on the come up" but from my recent experiences, I can't get behind that all the way.
You have some who claim they only entertain the "finished product" but like most sane women, if they see you have a viable future and if she finds you remotely attractive & socially adept, she would be willing to hold you down for a time to reap that benefit and build.
I get just as much from them as other races honestly.

Its sad really, but the reality is that these employers are seeing all kinds of 4.0 GPAs day in and out...good grades aren't the by all and end all to that career...

They get mad too when you tell em where you work, knowing they got better grades than you. For 10-15% of ppl its all about grades, the others its about who you know not what you know. I just figured that out sooner than they did
