I am half togolese and my mom is from the region where voodoo originates. Funny, my ancestral line has turned away from the religion and fully embraced Christianity.

Yeah my family is from the eastern/Volta region in Ghana and my great grandparents on my mom's side and even my grandmother on my dad's side were medicine men/healers. We even still have our ancestral shire in the village they come from

But everyone after them became baptized into Christianity and that was the end of that

From the Aztecs in Mexico to the Native Americans in the North America to the Nordics in Europe to the Africans in Africa & the Middle East all practiced some form of ancient religious rituals. Some of them which included human sacrifices.

Divination you will find among the black magician/occultist where they use sigils and incense.

Incantations you will find among the voodoo/sorcererist where they use veves and libation.

So it is the religion of ALL our ancestors, but those spirits that are conjured up seals your fate with them. That means you pick your lord and master. And a lot of the practitioners and followers are totally aware of that and made their decision.

A lot of those who practice the dark arts will admit Angels exist.. You have to understand there are people who do not want to live among the Angels and rather live with the Gods of their ancestors in the afterlife.

One thing for certain your final destiny follows whats in your heart & soul.

We were some of the first monotheism people tho... Ancient tabs n shyt talking about the creator. We had other gods related to nature but nothing dark.

Okay, I see your point about your people.

Slaves in the United States practiced only Christianity and Islam, this is why vodou is not widespread in the United States compared to other countries.

I was mostly talking about the origin of vodou down to the ancient tabs in Africa.

i think the reason voodoo/hoodoo isn't as big in the US is because of the white majority....all the other slave colonies had nonwhite majorities when these religions started (Cuba, Haiti, Brazil etc).....while the South used to be majority black the US as a whole was always predominantly white
