What's so special about rushing for a 1,000 yards in a season?

1,000 yards is the wackest benchmark for a starting RB....

Chris Johnson got a 1000 yards last year. That right there should just dead that benchmark

it's no longer the bench mark... but it probably will be again soon considering that the league is as pass happy as ever and more teams are going to a running back by committee

I think 1100 or 4.5 yards per carry should be the standards.

1,000 yard season is nothing like averaging 20 points a game. Many running backs could walk in off the street and gain a thousand yards if he gets the carries behind a half decent line and stays healthy.

You don't often see a player walk in from the D-league or from an undrafted position and start knocking down 20 a game. That was a big reason why Lin became such a big deal. 1. He was Asian. 2. He was a guy that "came out of nowhere" and started lighting it up.

Hell with the way teams throw the ball nowadays and so many teams going with the running back by committee thing getting to a 1,000 imo is still an achievement.
