What's so special about rushing for a 1,000 yards in a season?

you always hear about player x having x amount of 1,000 yard seasons...why is that the benchmark?

it's 62 yards a game. that's supposed to be impressive?

any halfway decent running back can achieve it, whether they share carries or not.



now if it's 1300 or 1400 yard seasons we're talking about

if you really think about it, only about 10-15 or so backs do that a year.

1,000 on the ground pretty much means youre a legit starter in the league... you aren't exactly considered elite til you start to hit the 1,200+ mark.

It says more about the durability of a RB
They are usually the most hit players meaning the most injured players.

If you play 16 full games and dont get 1000, then its an issue

My point was that nikkaz are jaded by the stars my ninja. 1000 yards is pretty f*ckin' good, it's just not good compared to Arian Foster or Adrian Peterson, same like 20 ppg is pretty f*ckin' good in the L, but it doesn't get respected because all you see on ESPN is KD, Lebron, and Kobe going for 30 every night. A 3 down 1000 yard back is still special, and will always be special, peep how Marshawn Lynch carried the Seahawks yesterday. People fiend for the Chris Johnsons, but what carries franchises are the Terrell Davises, Earl Campbells, Jerome Bettises, etc etc.

1,000 was the standard when they played 14 games in a season. I think they tried to keep it that way as the league began to get pass-happy in the 80s.

my ***** you trying playing 16 games a season without injury and i mean even if its minor cause that can throw you off a lil also.factor in a bad line,sharing touches or you get a qb that throws 30-50 times a game ie.brees. its sounds easy to say its only 60'whatever yards a game but not that simple.think about it if every nba player say im gonna get 4 points a quater which is only 2 baskets a qauter running 12 mins each you would have alot of players avg at least 16 points a game.seems easy but alot of factors add in i mean you have a certain amount of rb that rush for 1000 yards a year and usaully the same rb's or the same rb's on certain teams.
