that link's from 2009...
as far as cooling fans, what case are you working with? ultimately just get that card in there, and then you can see what kind of temps you're dealing with
I just have a stock HP case...but ok...

throw AMD in the bushes...they have been beat at almost every price point and the upgrade paths are unknown.damn...so I should just save up and swap it out when I can?..

they dont even support PCIE 3.0 @ this time and its hard to find many boards that are SLI compatible...it might be over for them soon
just trash it for an ivy system. Upgrade paths would be easier for this whole upcoming generation. Put it like this...with an ivy based system you are practically guaranteed to be able to run with that same motherboard, ram, hdd, cpu (upgrade), psu, and everything else except for your video cards. No slots wasted...easy upgrade paths all arounddamn...so I should just look into another one off jump street and save myself the trouble then right?...im gettin conflicting info in this thread...some cats sayin keep it..some sayin trash it...lol..

If you go AMD you just don't know what might happen, don't get bulldozed

it probably has crappy air-flow, but I don't know if it even has space for more fans, or if that's necessary. if it's really bad, you'd probably be better off just getting a new case (they're pretty cheap)
but if you already have all this stuff, I think you might as well get a new gpu, throw it in, and see where you're at. then you can decide if you need more air-flow, a better cpu, etc
I can get there if need be...I honestly like to order shyt online to be honest...and I know a dude who will install shyt for free pretty much...
