forget ram and put every dollar toward the GPU
and overclock
the new ivy bridge celeron gets better performance than the 550 and 530 and if you couple that with a 7850...you should be fine. With $600 I would probably get two 7850s, an ivy celeron, 8gb ram, hybrid drive, cheap case, that $105 motherboard I linked earlier and you will be for at least a year.
Then dump that celeron at that time and upgrade to the i5. You could probably sell that celeron for $25-$30 so you are only looking at a $25 loss...insted of being stuck with shytty video card.
@spliz yeah the i5 is a good investment as long as your budget allows for it. Do not go lower than a 7850 for graphics.
While I agree he'll need to overclock if he decides to keep that cpu that shyt isn't a task for novices.
eh, it's a little risky, but i doubt he will destroy anything. i think it could be fun and i doubt he will keep it for many years anyway. might as well go ham on it.
just get 8gb...its cheapSo how important is ram really? Do you really need 8+gigs of ram when you have a high end GPU? Like what's the sweet spot? I've always assumed now a days anything under 8gigs of ram is pouring jelly on yaself lol

yup, but I won't recommend getting a 8GB stick when the difference between 4gb and 8gb is so cheap that it doesnt even make it worth it IMO.at the moment, you really don't need more than 4gb. I think most games are 32 bit, and can't even use more than 2gb (?). 6-8gb is good if you want to be safe, since memory's cheap now. anything more than that, you're not gonna use unless you edit video or something like that
I think you're better off investing in a gpu with at least 2gb of DDR 5, if you're looking to improve gaming performance

Hell you could possibly just keep refreshing that low end cpu every 12-18 months and keep afloat as well. People are too caught up with thinking that you need a $1,500+ pc to run games @ full HD. Its simply not the case.
I'm a cheap fukk tho ...so it might just be me
ok..I checked this site right here and it said my cpu is ok for gaming...
