The thing that stands out to me is the ram. Get another 4 gigs. shyt is dirt cheap you could max out at 16 for pretty much nothing.

Another thing to think about is that your CPU will be a bottleneck for whatever current mid-range to high-end card you decide to get.
the cpu is probably the most overrated thing when it comes to gaming right now.what's a example of a good cpu for gaming?..any particular items?..

Dudes need to understand that real big jumps wont happen until the 720/ps4 are out and really dropping heat. You can literally buy a celeron right now (put the extra money towards the gpu) and play any game on the market...even Crysis 3.
Save some of that guap and put it towards an i5 or i7 when the budget allows. I'm about minimizing waste...getting an i5 but in turn getting a gpu is a big mistake when a cheap cpu > cheap gpu any day of the weak when it comes to gaming
ram isnt going to help much, maybe 2 more GBs, the games arent 64bit anyway...
the very first thing you should be doing is overclocking the hell out of that CPU. it's the weak link in your system at the stock clock speed
really, i wouldnt even invest anymore money in that system. OC that stuff till it fries.
the new ivy bridge celeron gets better performance than the 550 and 530 and if you couple that with a 7850...you should be fine. With $600 I would probably get two 7850s, an ivy celeron, 8gb ram, hybrid drive, cheap case, that $105 motherboard I linked earlier and you will be for at least a year.Intel Celeron G550/G530 Crysis 2 Gameplay HD 7770 - YouTube
Crysis 2 being run on a fairly "low end gaming PC"
It all depends on the settings. Most of the time the parts people refer you to get are parts that will maximize performance and graphics features for your buck. You can play newer games on older hardware you just have to dial down the settings.
so just add more ram and a new graphics card and call it a day?..
yup overclock, overclock, overclock.forget ram and put every dollar toward the GPU
and overclock
I'm clueless as to what's new pertaining to CPU's and GPU's coming out. I just remember Celeron being a processor I used to have in my PC like a decade ago. All I hear about is Intel i5 this and AMD that. I just google for performance on what I'm trying to play and gauge everything else from that.the new ivy bridge celeron gets better performance than the 550 and 530 and if you couple that with a 7850...you should be fine. Then dump that celeron at that time and upgrade to the i5. You could probably sell that celeron for $25-$30 so you are only looking at a $25 loss...insted of being stuck with shytty video card.
@spliz yeah the i5 is a good investment as long as your budget allows for it. Do not go lower than a 7850 for graphics.
dont get it twisted. Celeron is still pretty shytty in comparison, but the thing is that even a G530 can run Battlefield 3/Skyrim/Crysis 3/Far Cry 3 with no problem since no major jumps have been made recently. In 2 years? Yeah you will probably need an i5...right now spend the most you can on graphics.
