Whatever happens in games 4-7, can we agree ANALYTICS has proven to be FALSE?

But they were one of the best regular season teams ever :yeshrug:

What is with the people on here thinking that those that support analytics don't watch games?

There isn't a single person I've come across that supports analytics that thinks stats are more important than watching games. Watching games will always be the most important way to evaluate talent.

There have been plenty of teams that have won over 60 games. Would you consider the 08-09 Cavs one of the best teams ever? Usually when I think of great teams I think of who their most dominant player is and no one on this GS team comes off as supremely dominant. I know number don't lie or whatever but whenever I've seen them play I never thought all time great. No doubt they are good and even a great team for this year but I just can't say all time great. Just compare them to a team like the 2001 lakers or the 96 bulls. Who would you really take?

Regarding Lebron's championship experience, he knows how finals games are called and what he can and can't get away with. What role players can and can't get away with. Been there 6 times, won and lost, so yeah he would know. That alone won't help his shot go down, but an edge is an edge.

01 Lakers only won 56 games in the regular season. They're more remembered because they dominated the playoffs in a way we haven't seen in recent history, and one of the most dominant runs ever.

09 Cavs were not as good as the Warriors

53 wins is the magic number in terms of hope of winning it all

In the playoffs you go against the best of the best. The problem with statistics, by definition, is they tell you how a player or team performs against AVERAGE opponents. This is why teams that rely heavily on statistics rarely win any championships.

Analytics is fine. My problem was people claiming the Warriors are one of the best teams ever because of analytics.:mjlol:
Bingo! There's nothing wrong with analytics. The problem is with those who think that analytics are the end all be all. They're the people who claimed that the only way to beat these modern teams who feature te 3point shot, is to make a bunch of 3s yourself. They're the people who prematurely hailed this GS team as one of the all time best teams due to their analytics. They're the people who claim that this modern style of play is superior than the more traditional style. Those are the people who have been proven wrong regardless of the outcome of this series. GS could win the next 3 games in a row to get the ring and they still wouldn't be one of the all time best teams. This Cleveland team is decimated playing corpses like Mike Miller. This series isn't supposed to be close.

Again, it's not the analytics that's the problem. It's the lames who don't know shyt about basketball that think that analytics are all that matters.

after 2000, the lakers stopped taking the regular season seriously. they won 67 games in 2000, but i'd argue the 2001 team was infintely better (mainly cause Kobe ascended from all-star to the second best player in the nba).

I agree that the 01 team as a whole was better but fact of the matter is they weren't as dominant as the Warriors were in the regular season, with a lot of it being the reason you said, them not giving 100% effort.. In the playoffs, they ran shyt. And as a whole I think they'd smash the Warriors in a 7 game series but that's a completely different discussion

GS hasn't lost the series yet. They have been playing very horribly though. They aren't passing as much, they are taking too many contested shots, and too many off balanced 3s. Logically, 3-pointers that are uncontested usually have a higher percentage of going in.

The big question is whether GS's poor passing is leading to contested shots or is it because Cle is playing defense so well, that they just contest all those shots. Another question remains if the poor shooting is leading to GS playing sloppy and making less passes? I am a big believer in passing and make you get the easiest shot possible. Contested 3s and off balanced long range jumpers aren't easy shots. Lebron penetrating and getting to the rim is a much easier shot than Curry shooting contested 3s.

no. he isolates on one side of the court and backs Igoudala into the paint like fat charles barkley did in 1997. if the help doesn't come he takes a hook. if it does he kicks it out to shooters.

this is classic early 2000s iso ball. there is no ball movement with cleveland. no high pick n rolls. nothing but PURE ISOLATION.

This

And i've just come to realize (just this week actually) that a lot of people on the coli don't actually pay attention to the game and purely rely on box scores and stats to tell them what happened.

And when their calculator or some statistic is not telling them how they were wrong and why their team is lost, they lash out get emotional and call your threads/posts calling them out trash.

I see you breh.. Great thread..

Steph and Klay been taking shots like that all season they just aren't getting those open looks in transition and the other players are out her looking shook. You look at Barnes going 0-8 as an defensive afterthought and Draymond looking like he's alone in the gym he so open and thinking twice about taking the shot.
A big part of it is mental. The way the Cavs are playing them is throwing them. Their confidence is fukked. They don't come out aggressive and executing in tonight's game then they are done.
