What was up with 2000’s R&B singers using the same beat over different songs?

Think the same beats/samples got sold to different artists on different labels sometimes

like the Montell one

but the Jaheim thing just sounds like straight out sharking Wifey to me lol never heard that one

So Gone, 213 version was like a rebuttal, like No Scrubs/No Pigeons

I could have swore 'so fly' was on a mixtape where 213 was jacking for beats like gunit mixtapes but given how buzzworthy the song was, they put it on the album, similar to when Lloyd banks blacked out on his victory freestyle where it was longer and puff made victory 2004 an official release off the strength of mixtapes
It was. Ironically enough, it came on from my West Coast Playlist on youtube music on my drive home from work today :ohhh:. I used to scoff at the idea of living in a simulation, but with all these damn synchronicities I'm not so sure now

nah, the algorithm is pushed by public consensus and it seems like casual listeners aka white people just found out about the track

3 Pages and no harp strings? :pachaha:

I can go on.

Edit: Forgot one, from the one who penned some of the songs.

Not the same as what y'all are talking about, but Mariah reusing Shook Ones blew my mind back then.
Man, that's been Mariah Carey's REGULAR m.o. for YEARS: jack a popular beat and make her own hit out of it. :pachaha:
