Grandma got a settlement with the Chicago Housing Authority back in the 90s cuz one of my uncles is a little off. A doc traced it back to lead paint in government housing

Lead played a role, but all violence wasn’t confined to the jects. A lot of people were renting houses from white folks in the inner city and certain parts would be just as violent as Beirut in the 90s

Sure was. Conditions got worse over the next 30+ years. The amusements along the boardwalk slowly closed-down over the next decade until the only things left were the Palace, Casino, and Convention Hall. The Palace's roof collapsed in the mid-90's. There used to be Skyrides, rollercoasters, bumper cars, swan boats on the lake, Ferris wheels, etc. ALL of that just disappeared. With nothing much to attract tourists, the city just fell into a depression until about 2005-6. It's slowly coming back, due, in-part, to gentrification, but it'll never be what it once was.

This is just one video detailing the slow death of my childhood........
