:patrice: So deal with blistering freezing snowstorms or humid heat with warm temperatures...??? the only downside is mosquitos....

There was a heatwave in Chicago that killed 750 people that probably would have been an average summer day in Dallas. Just like there were people in Cali that died when the temperatures dropped down to 30 degree when that is mild as hell for upper Midwest standards.

Not everybody has the same opinions or reactions when it comes to weather.

Why's florida so cheap?

No jobs down there or just loads of land?

My flat just outside London is about 400k, but nothing like what you lot are posting, makes me wonder about studying a subject, so I can work from home and leaving england.

Billet Lane, Hornchurch, Essex
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-47869684.html

This is near me, I visited a couple in this block, it looks ok from the outside, but the flats are tiny inside.

This is what you get where I grew up

Wickford Street, Whitechapel, London
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-49230752.html

1 bedroom council (projects) flat and that's more than 400k!!!

Whitechapel probably have Shariah law in 5 years as well :pachaha:

London is a joke with the property prices.

Edit: you got me looking at property prices now, never even knew I could just straight swap my flat for this, Colchester, essex might be my get out plan

you can get a nicer house in houston for 100 k than what yall are getting for 400k

and the salaries aren't that different

how do yall live in these expensive places?

Live in property of family who purchased it when it was cheap (the 80s and before)

Or live with roommates :snoop:

Or live in a damn room of a rented house :skip:

or waste 75% of the paycheck on a studio apartment.

Sad shyt.

Florida and down south has always been classicly cheap I dont know why.... but there are jobs there in places you just gotta look. the thing is people live up here in nyc/east coast and retire down south after they get a pension/401k.etc... I dont know why you would want to live in london though. i heard those prices are a killer. San fransisco was nice and they fukked it all up and now Nyc is getting that way too... whoever heard of paying 2G's a month for a fukking box....??? :mindblown:

I suppose when you're from here (London), you are reluctant to leave, plus it's not like America, there isn't another city even comparable in Britain, the prices are a joke though, seems to me unless you're inheriting something or you are rich through your job, you ain't buying shyt, the average person hasn't got a chance.

I have to work in London, so I'm limited to where I can go, maybe if I had another chance I would think about Brighton (seaside town about 60 miles from London), but that's proabably after growing up in shyt hole parts of London, Now I got a family I like the quiet suburb, country life.

It depends where u go in Florida. Florida is the most expensive state in the south outside of Virginia and that's because the DC metro areas boosted up the overall price over there.

I dont know about Tenessee but you can get most if not all that shyt in Charlotte

Theres no downtown per se but theres plenty of shyt to do.

I dont know what a CTA is but if you meant MTA, yea, you are going to need a car. But if you work and live in the city you might be able to get away with taking the train. And the MTA fukking sucks. I hated taking the train. I either rode my motorcycle or my bicycle to work as I lived and worked in Manhattan.

Concerts :aicmon: I have been to more concerts in the last year and a half here than I had in like 10 years in NYC. Theres plenty of concerts in NYC but tickets for anyone worth seeing are like $400 a pop. No fukking thanks.

Food here is pretty damn good too. Some shyt is lacking (Thai, cheap French, pizza) but theres a lot of good shyt here and it's much cheaper than NYC.

Beach from the city is a fukking pipe dream. By train from Manhattan to Rockaway or Jones Beach is an honest 3 hours each way. Tenessee is landlocked so I cant speak on it, but u know what beach is 3 hours away from Charlotte? Charleston, a city voted the best place in America to visit 4 years in a row. Ive been there twice and I love it. It's a great town with food just as good as NYC.

Only place NYC has Charlotte beat is museums.... but for all the money Im saving living down here, if I really want to go to the Met I can book a flight :manny:

NYC is a great city to visit but if you aren't a multi millionaire u arent coming close to getting out all the city has to offer. A lot of folks scared to leave there build these defense mechanisms to rationalize such horrible living conditions. Humans need outdoor space, sunlight, quiet, privacy etc. Ur not getting much of that in the "heart" of the city. And if u live out in the suburbs u get the worst of both worlds- pretty much no access to the best the city has to offer, and expensive shytty housing. No thanks. Leaving NYC after 28 years there has been the best decision Ive ever made in my life.............................................................................

Dont be scared to look around. U sound like someone whose never left. If u scared, say u scared :birdman:
I moved to Charlotte from Baltimore, MD in 2010, and regretted it. Boring as fukk. Up north, you see people EVERYWHERE (sidewalks, bus stops, etc.). Down here, it's WAY too quiet for me, and the only place you see people are in stores n shyt. In my opinion, NC is somewhere you'd only really enjoy if you're older, or you grew up here. I'm only 20 :manny:

Nah, I live just outside, but me and my girl both work in London, so we're stuck here till further notice, I'm lucky though, I've got property to inherit, so I'll never have the massive mortgage, plus I like Essex for the moment, if that changes I'll move probably.
