The military bombed civilian targets intentionally and without a care in the world. Bombs with napalm and thermite. Not only did they drop those atomic bombs on non military cities, they did it even though Japan was going to surrender anyway then lied and made it seem like it was the reason the war ended.

The Japanese feared a Russian invasion more than America and they were ready to surrender.

They fukked up Tokyo pretty bad too. White phosphorus, napalm, everything. That gets forgotten because of the two A-bombs. But the firebombing of Tokyo was the most destructive conventional air bombing of a civilian area in history.

It's funny, I remember my school teachers saying it was the more humane choice because a ground invasion would've killed more. Got older, did my own research and found out that was all bullshyt. Japan was already ready to surrender. Russia was about to move in and it was a wrap for them. It was totally unnecessary and done just to project power.

Here's the problem with your idea. While you may be right about the horrible stuff the USA did to Japan, you gotta keep in mind who started it.

Hitler's Nazi party voluntarily killed people and had a disgusting agenda. They were the aggressor. They started the wars. Japan backed this disgusting nation and attacked us.

The USA was defending itself. Maybe they went overboard, but we were provoked. We defended out country at all and any costs AFTER the Japanese engaged us. shyt, you should be happy we dropped them bombs. It saved American soldiers lives.

And did you really compare Japan to a systematic extermination of a race/religion of people?

we killed the shyt out of a lot of them and ruined some of their land and gave them disease, but the nature of the crimes they committed against other countries in the proposed greater asian sphere was ...

I can't help but feel even now that such misdeeds would have fueled terrible retribution against Japan had we not essentially taken over protecting their country.

Every civilian populace that is attacked in a war is "undefended." I know what you're trying to say, but that's not the best explanation for it. I don't think we need to do a "which massacre is worse" thing. But I do think from here on out we should hold victims of both atrocities to the same level of reverence and respect.

In the summer of 1945, the U.S. Army Air Force carried out one of the most intense campaigns of city destruction in the history of the world. Sixty-eight cities in Japan were attacked and all of them were either partially or completely destroyed. An estimated 1.7 million people were made homeless, 300,000 were killed, and 750,000 were wounded. Sixty-six of these raids were carried out with conventional bombs, two with atomic bombs. The destruction caused by conventional attacks was huge. Night after night, all summer long, cities would go up in smoke.
