Society, the laws on the books, and the things considered acceptable have changed dramatically in the past ten years.Smilies or no smilies, that has nothing to do with Mark Jackson not fulfilling a major job requirement asked of a modern NBA coach ie creating an inclusive environment for management, players, and fans. Steve Kerr might do that better than anyone.
"Old school Christian" is a copout.
You can consider Mark Jackson a dinosaur, a relic, or whatever but he's sticking to what he BELIEVES. Not bending with the times.
I have sets of personal standards and morals not based on religion, but based on respecting people and their views and asking them to respect mine. ( Having said that, this modern era where we're asked to not use gender pronouns and to act like gender doesn't exist is BULLshyt.)
Mark's standards and views seem to be heavily based on his faith. He was a grown man, retired NBA player, broadcaster and NBA Head Coach before this rapid change in society/laws. He's sticking with what he believes and who he is. And it appears to have lead to him being whiteballed.
