Doggystyle is dope as fukk Snoop’s version of Lodi Dodi was FIRE and young Snoop was really one of the first rappers to embody swag in just his delivery alone (he just might be top 5 coolest rappers of all time if not top 10) and damn near anything this nikka said sounded cool especially over Dre and Daz’s production and the mix on that album is A1, so I feel you but your top 10 is probably the polar opposite of mine with Life After Death being my favorite EastCoast album of all time and some other exceptions
I played Pump Pump like 15 times in a row in my car yesterday :russ:

Eastcoast and Westcoast production doesn't exist without old Southern music. This is the South easily.

North for vintage HipHop

South overall when you factor in how diverse and eclectic they were with it. The south did it with samples, live instrumentation and even had a electronica tilt/impact. As i said before, some of the first shyt I heard that sounded like UK Grime beats were from Southern HipHop producers.

and don't get me started on how Party Supplies and Alchemist wasted beats on Action Bronson

This shyt should've been a song :damn:

The east coast as of recent has been bland. I fux with the alchemist and jahlil beats but the east been bland in the last decade or so. There hasn't been any new talent to take the reigns from the previous goats (swizz beats, just blaze, the heatmakerz etc)

As for southern producers, if you look into their backgrounds many of them are trained musicians or at least had some type of formal music lessons, so they tend to be better at creating music without samples. (Zaytoven is a beast on the keyboards ). However a lot of trap beats just don't do it for me outside of my ride.

Zaytoven is from the bay but I see what you're saying. That's because a lot of them come from the church playing piano or drums
