The South is pretty eclectic and very much responsible for the modern Hip Hop/RnB/Electronic sound

Dj Premier from Houston. South had the best no competition as a whole though.

DJ premier is from Houston, but spent his entire career in Brooklyn. He's definitely east coast. That'd be like the south claiming Kanye cuz he was born in Atlanta.

Harry Fraud was on fire and still has his moments that nikka gave us Cigarettes Boats





and The Alchemist gave Spitta nothing but heat in Covert Coup this is one if the best beats to come out in 00s IMO



and don't get me started on how Party Supplies and Alchemist wasted beats on Action Bronson

Damn fam I don’t know I forgot Pete Rock, but as much as fukk with those four I feel like Dre, Quik, Daz, and Battlecat beat them just off of the musicality of their production alone them nikkas really go in and arrange records dawg and honestly I would take G-Funk over Boom Bap any day. I still fukk with the EastCoast but that’s just my 2 pennies on it

Yeah I prefer East Coast beats from a pure hip-hop standpoint but I think the West Coast cats are better musicians.
