We're on the same page breh. I just like adding stuff to the pot for conversation and I do like thinking about flicks like Kiss Kiss Bang Band Die Hard and Lethal Weapon as good Christmas movies just for their overall message. It's like the time I read that The Simpsons is one of the most religious shows on TV even though most people don't think about it or see it that way but there's more mentions of God and them being active in the church than on most tv shows about religion. Just some food for thought

Christamas barely has anything to do with religion. lol

But it hardly makes any sense to have a Christmas movie that doesn't center on Christmas imo.
I get @StraxStrax 's point...but they wouldn't have been rushing around in Home Alone if they weren't trying
to be somewhere for Christmas. And in Jingle All The Way none of that woulda happened if Arns wasn't trying
to get li'l dude the toy for Christmas.

I'm just using the analogy breh of looking into something and not noticing stuff you may have missed on the first go round e.g., I never noticed how religious the simpsons was until I read that in a book and started thinking about it.

My fav christmas movie of all time is Christmas Vacation. Too me that has everything. You get the dad trying to do right by christmas, making sure everyone has a good time. You got the mom worried about mom stuff like where to sleep everyone...ya got the crazy ass uncles and aunts....pretty much reminds me of my family at christmas...the whole movie is like a buffet of christmas goodness....and honestly has the key ingredient in xmas movies I believe as we get older, Nostalgia...

I think that's the one Christmas movie I've seen the least. It's such a dope movie though. I think Home Alone and Christmas Story always touch a nerve with me because of the mother son relationship in Home Alone and Christmas Story's look at Christmas as this mythical time that mean so much to people.

I'm very sentimental about my Christmas flicks. I can do syrupy sweet if it's served right. I'm one of those people who watch those Hallmark Christmas specials and tear up. :manny: But I also like cynical and anti-establishment movies too. I'm a cynic, so those appeal to my analytic side.

So I guess the answer is - as long as it's compelling and not horribly written and acted, I'm down for it.

My favorite Christmas movies are all over the place:

It's a Wonderful Life
Elf
Scrooged
Die Hard
Gremlins

I think my thing is, I find sentiment even in what would appear to be the most cynical movies. I'd say Lethal Weapon could be a cynical movie (and yes it's still a christmas movie in my eyes) but I find a lot of emotion and sentiment in it. Same with Die Hard and Gremlins

Just what reasonates..I like the sentimental xmas movies. But every now and again you need something unique which is why Bad Santa is great because it was different and genuinely funny

A Muppet X-mas was a tv movie with the muppets, the sesame street muppets and the fraggle rock muppets..

that's how xmas should be:mjcry:

To be honest, if it is set during Christmas time or Christmas is a central plot point or setting, then its a Christmas movie...I love the family ones like Christmas Story all the way to the dark ones like Bad Santa so I'm open on that.
