You're right but that's Kidd's offense. When Luka has the ball, Kyrie is in the corner or the wing and they rotate.
I'd like to see Luka on the post too but the only time he does it is when he brings the ball up, kills clock, then backs them down to the post.
Then he hits them with the fade or pass back.
They hardly ever run, even when Luka is out and it's maddening when you see the athletes we have.

For some reason, Kidd has a nondribbler (THJ, PJ, DJJ, etc.) bring the ball up when Kyrie and Luka are on the floor?
And then they slowly get into the offense with everybody just standing around watching the 2 work and waiting to catch and shoot.
Mix in pick and roll for potential lobs.
I hate it but it works because Luka and Kai are great... Luka not so much because he's hurt.
But again, that's on him because he's fat.

He shot selection is always questionable to be honest. If he's hitting that step back 3 it's not as noticeable but when that isn't going in - his poor shot selection is glaring.

This is bad take breh. Luka has a post game. He's out of shape again and thats been his biggest knock. To play off ball you need to constantly be moving around and off screens. He's been constantly a top 3 mvp candidate the last 3 years. He has zero weaknesses on offense. He just needs to be in shape so he can always be in attack mode.

They resorting to Kyrie having to be their "stopper", which is taking away from his offensive game

Defense has never been one of Kyrie’s strengths. He’s generally average at it.
Him being asked to fill a shutdown role is bad for the mavs Cause they lack offense and scoring as it is. And all the offensive load rests on the shoulder of Luka and he has to do all the scoring alone, because Kyrie is mainly occupied on defense and can’t concentrate on offense as he wants (his main strength and skill) and the rest of the mavs roster aren’t threats offensively and can’t score lol.

They need to add more « 3 and D » players on the roster.

The thing is the NBA, media have turned him into Houston James Harden. A no defense high level stat guy that dominates the ball possesions and kills the offensive flow. Kyrie is not far behind on that. Its a bad strategy for winning when you have 2 ball dominat players that just score. Look at his old games when he was in shape playing for Slovenia in international ball. That's how he should be playing.
