2005 til nowish

with a few moments of greatness:manny:

Idk, you can kind of split that stuff up, 2008 Raws pre PG were okay, 2011-2014 Raws were pretty good, then 2016-2017 Raws were alright. Everything else is pretty trash.

11-14:

Summer of Punk
Orton/Christian
Hall of Pain
Daniel Bryan heel and face runs
Shield debut
Ziggler's cash in
Punk/Taker build
Taker/HHH build
Rock/Cena build
Rock/Punk build
Punk heel turn
Ryback 12-13 run
Axel beating HHH 3 times clean
Mark Henry fake retirement
Big E Langston nice mid card run
Shield/Wyatts feud
Shield/Evolution feud
Seth Rollins turning on the Shield
Cesaro's run of amazing matches

This current run with a sabotaged main event scene and lazy World Champion is up there.
It’s the worst ever. A champion who is rarely on tv and presented as a heel while not actually doing heel things and a “face” who gets change the channel heat trying to act like he’s railing against the system while getting endless chances to win even while repeatedly losing clean. A 3-4 year endless loop of that too. The fact that there’s multiple people who should be at the top right now that are being sabotaged too just so the crowd doesn’t get even angrier makes it the worst.

Basically there are no stories and nothing is important. You could miss 8 months of tv and not miss a thing
That’s what I should’ve elaborated on further. On top of everything I said, it’s clear they’re only planning for one person to win without making an effort to get him over and don’t put any effort whatsoever into the entire rest of the show. They’re not even trying to get anyone over at all really.

The word "era" is one of the most misused ever :mjlol:

It goes back and forth... most of those early Raws were garbage, specifically '94-'95. I tried to give 'em a shot when I got the Network, couldn't do it.

The HHH Reign of Terror got really bad in '03, but most of the undercard made up for it. If you could withstand that opening 20 minute promo, you got to see Jericho, HBK, RVD, Benoit, Booker, Edge, Christian, etc...

'06-'07 was awful.

Then when it gets around '09-'11, it doubled down on awfulness. Only Punk in the bottom half of the year kept it interesting.

These last few years haven't been bad, just waaaaay too long. Even if it was great right now, 3 hours every week is just long as fukk.

Going back to this thread makes me wonder would you rather watch something downright awful and horrendous, or just flatlined boring programming like we currently have:pachaha: I haven’t watched a full WWE show in a long time (especially Raw), but I know if I missed two months and popped back in, I could predict what happened :mjlol:

Horrendous has the chance of being so bad it’s funny. Boring has no redeeming qualities. 1999-2001 era WCW did a ton of stupid things but half of them were so stupid we can’t help but laugh at how bad an idea it was. fukkery can still entertain even if it makes no sense and is horribly executed. Compare that to a product bad enough that fans in large groups begin walking out during the show and start chants for shyt not related to the product because they’re trying to find a way to entertain themselves.

What I’m noticing is the consensus is that raw has been awful for most of its existence :francis:
This is factory for most part. I always judge WWE eras in two formats. Were the storylines good/bad? Was the ring work fun or not? They very rarely pull off both simultaneously so it becomes easy to classify an era to me.

Right now like everyone has said their are basically 0 storylines nowadays which effects the show at large negatively. On the other hand, the work is the best it's ever been in the E right now. The reasons the shows are bad is the current stories don't matter and they book around that fact. So wins and losses now hold no weight. Then some of the decisions to push individuals regardless of crowd reactions undercuts the great in ring work. It's really shouldn't be this bad. It almost seems intentional.

The WWE being hardcore PG in 2008 was the worst. Characters got simplify to childish cardboard version of themselves. Gimmick matches where so toned down that it took like 3 years for them to lax on them. They strayed away from telling complicated or controversial stories for a long ass time. Everything was so simple. They stop great matches because of blood and ruin the entire flow of the match. It was bland and boring. SOOOO Glad WWE lax quite a bit from those days once they reestablished their image for a product of all ages where they mostly save hardcore moments for late in the show or on PPV. No more stopping matches. Storytelling has improved dramatically and character are kind of better since then letting them shoot and make personal jabs on the reg.

I stopped watching Raw in like 2000 until well after The Rock returned for the first time so I missed out on all that HHH domination :bryan:

I will say I started watching again around that whole pipebomb thing but once John Laurinaties got in the picture..then Kevin Nash that shyt got boring again.

I'm slowly starting to get disinterested again...haven't watched Raw in over a month. shyt is too long and full of too much bullshyt.
