Well you can pick some from the list that you think isnt black culture and tell why it isnt.

Ill use an example with myself:

Outsiders appreciating others culture like me watching Anime doesnt change the fact that Anime is Japanese culture.

:comeon: Just because non-blacks try jacking our customs/practices/music etc.., that doesn't make it non black american culture.

Are you dudes responding to my post from today or are you responding to something I said months ago. Cause I'm pretty sure I didn't say black culture or non black culture today. Nor was my argument that any of these things were or were not black culture.

My argument has always been that there is no such thing as a culture based solely or exclusively to one race. In fact, I'm pretty sure the prerequisites for a culture being a culture requires the absence of genetic identifiers

I've never heard of "black Brazilian" "black Mexican" culture... I've heard of Brazilian and Mexican and etc culture though. I've never heard of white Brazilian, white Mexican culture either. Race is not a culture identifier

Well, generally speaking that's true but there is AfroBrazilian and AfroMexican subsets to the cultures.

bruh i've never heard or can even think about another ethnic group going like "what is our culture?". maybe as a rhetorical question, but some of us honestly dont know. i know this black girl adopted by white people for instance who didn't know what soul food was, I was like "it's black people food", and she said "there's no such thing as black people food!". i was mortified

How would one be able to classify and better understand their culture without asking a question like that? If you are implying that some black people think that black people don't have culture then okay but that doesn't mean everyone who asks the question "what is our culture?" does so out of disdain. It's a legitimate question all ethnic groups ask.

We all know this isn't true but to make it clearer, one should tie specific customs/culture/folklore etc.. not to a race but more to an ethnicity and then it's race.

This thread is stupid, because black culture is America.

When you think of what American culture is, there a lot of black influence, rock and roll, barbecues, jazz, hip hop,
Kids all around the world when they imitate American culture, it is usually hip hop, looking up to black basketball players, wearing name brand clothes etc. From food, to clothing style to music to sports etc.

I swear simple nikkas that post here need to realize this. American culture is black. It is so woven in, that white folk really can't deny it.

I don't see why we "should" when it has no bearing on the beauty or the importance of said culture. I specifically disagree with any belief that would support potential exploitation of a culture by members of a single race over inclusion of other races who would embrace the culture as their own.

Black Americans can't have our own because white people keep stealing everything we create.

Cultural appropriation doesn't stop the culture that's being jacked from belonging to the people that created it. These Koreans signing in a black gospel style isn't going to stop the music from being black music

I have no problem with people embracing culture outside of their own but this thread is asking what is black american culture so Im pointing it out.

OK. I was tagged in a post and that's the main reason I'm here. I have no dog in this fight cause I have stated explicitly race and culture should not be combined but admit that a case for AA culture can be made

no other culture on earth would seriously ask a dumb ass question like this thread is asking bruh. as i said, the way your post is asking it is rhetorical. I mean when black people seriously ask that shyt, when they should know damn well what theyre culture is, a good number of white people look at our culture as a "fad" or some shyt, instead of something legitimate. and black people raised around white people believe it

So, it's dumb to want to define one's culture?

What about "African-American" culture?

Because "African-American" isn't a "race", but an ethnic group and ethnic groups have cultures... If @Supper is still on here maybe he can elaborate.

And mind you there IS a such thing as Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Mexican culture.
