Hip-hop, R&B, soul food, project/inner city/hood culture.

That's all I can think of.

I hate to say it, but there really isn't much that can constitute black culture in America...but it's ten times more than what white culture is (nothing).

I'm African though...and West Indian...we got our own culture. America is just a community culture and a clusterfukk in itself.

This is by far the stupidest statement. I'm surprised since its coming from you...

When most of the black population don't know their history, or can't trace the lineage in their family over 100 years, then yeah, its hard to have a true culture

The bolded DOES NOT define a culture. It seems you like most people use the tired excuse of the Atlantic slave trade for why AA's don't have a culture argument. Thing is new cultures(and ethnic groups) are made and developed. You think some of these ethnic groups in Africa have been there for thousands and thousands of years? No. For example the Bantu people are recent people in southern Africa(compared to the Khoisan), they migrated northward, yet they don't know which specific place in the north they migrated from and lost all cultural connections from their origin area to develop their own culture. Which is why Bantu people either from southern, eastern or central Africa developed their OWN culture and their culture is different from one of another. And mind you there was no Bantu people 10k years ago. But does that mean Bantu people do not have a culture??????? AA's developed their own culture(its roots in the south) as a result of mixture of different African cultures and a minor bit from European culture.

Never understood why people say this. Hip hop rap is a young peoples culture and extremely popular. But is grandma listening to lil wayne?

Hip hop is simply a sub-section of AA culture
I dont know why people say dance ? Do you see newborn black babys dancing?

The blues also didn't define how we talk, dress, and act either

This is a really silly comment and shows how uniformed you are. No offense. But I'm going to try and have some patience with you. Blues is the "blackest" genre in the United States, but more importantly it is the root and foundation of African American music(and American popular music in general). It along with gospel are also the root and foundation of African American culture. The blues development started in...You guessed it... Slavery. And then it was fully developed by the early 20th century, specifically when radio was invented. But more importantly it developed in the south, where the majority of the AA population lived. It defined the AA culture and struggle at that time. Hell blues is the ROOT of AA non-religious secular culture. The "vices" of black American such as drinking, partying, sex, smoking dope, etc. Blues defined all that. If it weren't for the blues not only can you just forget about your Hip Hop and R&B, but AA's would be more religious than we are today. Yes it defined ALL the things you listed and its roots are still seen today.

Its sad that my white professor understands(and know this), but you as a black person does not.

Oh? then speak on it.

Im listening.
It'd be easier for you to tell me which of those are black exclusive than for me to point out the entire list. What is the necessity for there to be anything racially exclusive in the first place?

Well you can pick some from the list that you think isnt black culture and tell why it isnt.

Ill use an example with myself:

Outsiders appreciating others culture like me watching Anime doesnt change the fact that Anime is Japanese culture.

This is how you can't tell many people don't know what they're talking about in this thread. As you pointed out, Blues is the root to almost all of it.
