Why is everything so static and boring? Feels like there hasn't been a good new franchise in years. Everyone seems to be blah about Series X and PS5. If I don't play on steam, I'm not even thinking about games as a whole anymore.

There’s plenty of games out there from indie to AAA. This sounds like a you problem respectfully.

Indies and Double A games been holding it down between sporadic GOOD Triple A releases.
Studios are afraid to try new shyt and aren't being allowed by developers/shareholders to take that risk, hence why we in the era of the re-make.
To make it worse, politics and agendas have permeated modern games to the point everything is either being made to please/piss off a certain group of people, or hopefully snag the next pond of 'whales' due to excessive monetization with the 'games as a service' model being adopted by many a crossed legged, non game playing, white male CEO's who'll keep trying (and hopefully failing) to realize that fukk boy's Bobby Kotick's vision for gaming, which is essentially you paying top dollar for ever iteration of a game, from bullets to cutscenes.
There's alot of really good shyt out there, but unfortunately, you gotta do a bit of due diligence and dig/search to find it, but it's there amongst the occasional hits from the bigger studios.​
