This giant alligator wandered onto Interstate 10 in Tallahassee, causing authorities to close the Monroe Street exit.

  • According to the Tallahassee Democrat, the Florida Highway Patrol and police closed the exit to keep drivers away from the giant gator.

Vaughan Gators was called and eventually trapped the reptile.

"By the time I had gotten there, he had worked his way over to the guardrail," owner Broderick Vaughan told Local10.com, adding that the gator was "very much alive and unhappy."

Vaughan said he used his snare pole to get a hold of the gator and tape the mouth shut.

Because the gator had been injured after being struck in the snout by a semitruck -- Vaughan said the gator was "whacked in the head pretty good" -- he had to euthanize the big beast.

Vaughan said it wasn't the first gator he's had to remove from I-10.

ORLANDO, FLA. (WSVN) - A father’s unique way to teach his daughter a lesson has gone viral.

Orlando father Jason Hilley used an unusual method to try to convince his daughter to avoid wearing a pair of short shorts: he donned a pair himself.

Video posted to Facebook shows Hilley entering his daughter’s room while wearing the shorts, much to his daughter’s shock and embarrassment.

“I will pick you up at school every day with these on,” Hilley warns his daughter in a video.

Since being posted, Hilley’s video and photo has been shared over 245,000 times.

South Florida man says he was deceived when he bought tiny strip of land

TAMARAC, Fla. - A South Florida man thought he snagged a deal when he paid $9,100 in an online auction for what he thought was a villa. What he got was a 1-foot-by-100-foot strip of land.

The land, valued at only $50, starts on a curb and goes under a wall separating two villas in the Spring Lake community and then out to the back of the lot.

    • An official tells the South Florida Sun Sentinel there's not a lot Kerville Holness can do about his purchase.

Holness says he was deceived. He says property appraiser photos linked to the auction site shows a villa being on the parcel he made a bid on.

But the newspaper says the appraiser's site and information on the county's tax site show no building value.

Officials investigating after Florida woman allegedly receives snake in mail

Officials investigating after Florida woman allegedly receives snake in mail

CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WSVN) — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating after a woman allegedly received a snake in the mail.

According to WBBH, the woman told police she received the package through the United States Postal Service and upon opening it, she found a large black oak snake inside.

The package had a note on the side that said “a gift for you.”

The woman took the package to the police department, and now it is being investigated as a wildlife crime.

The snake in the box was reportedly in shipping for three days from Illinois.

Wildlife experts told WBBH that it’s a miracle the snake didn’t die in transit because the animal needs hydration, sunlight and heat to live.

Police said the snake was not native to Florida and was non-venomous. It has since been handed over to the FWC.

FLORIDA MAN TRIED TO GET BACK AT HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND BY PUTTING LYSOL IN HER PICKLE JUICE, BLEACHING HER CLOTHES

BY JASON MURDOCK ON 6/21/19 AT 5:30 AM EDT

A Florida man was taken into custody in Volusia County this week after allegedly spiking his ex-girlfriend's drink with cleaning product and bleaching her clothes.

Richard Lewis, 25, was arrested by deputies from the DeLand Police Department on Wednesday afternoon following a heated confrontation with another individual, Tiera Cotton. The pair had been fighting about the end of their relationship, WKMG-TV (ClickOrlando) reported.

According to the Florida media outlet, Lewis admitted to police he attempted to poison Cotton by putting Lysol in her pickle juice. He told deputies he did so because he was "frustrated." His partner told police he also poured bleach on her clothes and sent her threatening texts.

Inmate records posted online this week by Volusia County Corrections confirmed the suspect was charged with battery causing bodily harm, criminal mischief above $200 but below $1,000 and the poisoning of food or water. Lewis was being held on a $15,000 bond.

WKMG-TV reported police arrived on the scene shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday and spotted blood on a doorway and a broken window. The officers noted in a police report they could smell bleach and it appeared wine bottles had recently been thrown about inside the residence.

Cotton said the situation escalated after she broke up with Lewis and he later forced his way back into the home. The suspect was accused of smashing a window to unlock the door. Police said Cotton hurled a knife and some wine bottles toward Lewis when he re-entered the property.

Cotton, who then fled to a neighbor's home, claimed Lewis also stole her computer, WKMG-TV reported. Later, the woman asked her mother to go to the residence to check if Lewis was still there. Cotton said she then received a threat via text message from her ex-boyfriend.

In Florida, poisoning of food or water is a first-degree felony.

Last year, a Florida man was charged with poisoning after allegedly putting bodily fluids into a co-worker's drink. Robert Tyson, 62 at the time, was a Center for Dermatology staff member who admitted to his bosses he put a "couple drops of semen" in her water.

Yesterday, The Smoking Gun reported Tyson had entered a no contest plea and was sentenced to probation and 250 hours of community service. The Tallahassee man, now 63, also has to undergo mental health and sexual health evaluations while staying away from his female victim, who was not named by police.

The Miami Herald reports Philidor yelled "It's protein! It's good for you!" during the incident.

Witnesses say dozens of corrections officers responded and the trial was moved while the courtroom was sanitized.

Miami Dade Circuit Court spokeswoman Eunice Sigler says Philidor also defecated on himself in a holding cell Thursday.

Jurors subsequently acquitted him of the burglary charge. The newspaper says he still faces another trial in a grand theft auto case.

It's unclear whether he'll face any charges involving the feces.
