Salute to my brothers.

"Nigeria" will never let Biafra happen, and if Igbos try, many more will die once again...and the world will turn its back once again.

It's religious in the sense that Northerners are trying to Islamisize Nigeria incrementally. They're throwing away Nigeria's secular nature for political gains. Igbos have been targeted by religious extremists because we are non-Muslims.

It's an ethnic conflict that is rooted in unfair distribution of wealth, political marginalization etc. Both sides use religion to galvanize support from their home base. This thread is a very good example of that.

You're downplaying the religious element of this conflict. In so far as Hausa Muslims are willing to behead Christian Igbos in public markets because they've "blasphemed" against Muhammad or Allah, then it's a religious conflict.

Nigerians know this is a religious conflict. More than 20,000 Nigerians have been killed since Sharia law was enacted in the North.

Don't tell me that woman was beheaded because of "economic anxiety"

I said many times before and to me it makes perfect ass sense. If Igbo or even the rest of Southern Nigeria splits from Nigeria then it is completely over for the North. They would become just another Sahelian African nation like Mali, Niger and Chad basically trapped in the desert with very little resources. The only difference is that Northern Nigeria would be an English speaking Sahelian country. Not only that they'll be stuck with the Boko Haram problem along with every other problem.

Was she beheaded by fanatics or the Hausa elite and their lackeys?

You do realize that most of these extremists regard the northern elites as "kuffaar", right? Buhari is a non-Muslim to them.

Breh, you're a knowledgeable dude so I'm sure you know things are a bit more complicated than "northerners want to impose Sharia on us and destroy our way of life". You can't just reduce things to the level of Muslims vs. Christians.

Where do the pro-government Yoruba fit into this grand conspiracy? :comeon:

West African intellectuals @MansaMusa and @CashmereEsquire I have an important question... Why is it that countries like Mali, Sierre Leone, Senegal, Guinea,.Burkina Faso and The Gambia DO NOT have fanatical Muslims like seen in Northern Nigeria. Sure you can say there are some in Mali but those fanatical Muslims are NOT from Mali. Mali and the countries I listed have Muslims that combine Islamic faiths with indigenous African beliefs and are not even that Islamised like N.Nigeria.

Me... I think it has to do with Northern Nigeria since history being bordered places like Chad and Niger which hosted VERY conservative Islamic Empires like Kanem. Meanwhile the Empires that were hosted in the countries I listed were more Liberal like.

Just curious.

Those countries are more influenced by Sufi Islam and culture of tolerance rather than the Saudi version practiced in Northern Nigeria.

Not sure honestly. I think like you said it probably has to deal with the historic manner those individuals were converted to Islam. Like I don't think Mande groups took on Islam manner in the same way as those in the Nigeria area. I could be totally wrong though but didnt Islam spread to the Nigeria/Benin/etc areas via conquest while in the Sahel it was a combination of Trade?

I'm no expert but I feel like those places especially Senegal have historically been tolerant of religious diversity

Both, you and Mansa musa. Make good points but Buhari is not seen as kuffar, lol. He's Seen As A muslim.

Hausa and fulanis don't do the kuffar thing. Infact the Muslim north is no more or less conservative than the south.

They just like to play religion when they feel like it. Prostitution among fulanis is very common esp the nomad, nomad Fulani women don't wear hijab or cover skin either. Hausa and fulani indulge in drinking, adultery homosexuality along with mixing traditional practices with Islam.

While Mansa musa is right about Islam in some aspects it's more complicated.
