Yes, Igbos have come to terms with what the Arochukwu did and they are frown upon in all of Igbo culture for it.

A few Igbos put together a conspiracy to sell their brothers into slavery to make themselves richer. The Oyo empire was the peak of Yoruba civilization and they were openly engaged in the the selling of captives as slaves

It's two different situations and your being dishonest by comparing the two.
Exactly. Arochkwu people have a huge stain on their reputation because of their past. Dude is comparing a small clan of ostracized c00ns in the igbo community to celebrated leaders of powerful civilaztions ran by slave trading c00ns whom were well respected amongst the yourobas.

Okay, I like the fact that you told the truth.

About Oyo, not that I said Yorubas never sold slaves, however, people tend to conflate Yoruba with Oyo. Geographically, if you look at it, Oyo never was on the coast, and it stayed away from it because its cavalry couldn't function there, hence Bini was allowed to build a war camp in Eko to protect the area from Dahomey. The biggest Yoruba slave merchants on the coast were Ekos and Ijebus. That's basically why I said Oyo never really sold slaves. And if it did, it was most likely through 3rd parties.

Also, look at the timeline of when the Bight of Benin became a major slave coast and the collapse of Oyo - you'd see that both fall into the same timeline. The biggest Dahomey slave trading king, King Gezo, also ruled during that timeline (1818-1856).

If they had said Yorubas sold slaves, I wouldn't have argued it. But I'll always be sceptical about Oyo due to the timeline. Historians also have a way of calling all Yorubas 'Oyo', but without considering the fact that the coastal Yoruba groups were independent states.

Breh, why're you spelling 'Yorubas' as 'Yourobas'?

That's so beneath you, since you preach the pro-black mantra. :shaq:

People on Nairaland say a lot of retarded shyt. Igbos do not carry any Near Eastern genes whatsoever. I don't even know where that even came from of them being Hebrews. They don't even carry any J.
Oh okay. Thanks for letting me know. So, they just practice just because. Also, I checked out the preview of the this book and another one. They said there's Jews in Kenya and etc.

https://books.google.com/books?id=X...A3IQ6AEIIjAB#v=onepage&q=African Jews&f=false

Nairaland is like Lipstick Alley, don't take the bias and ignorance too serious breh :russ:
Alright man. I'm still trying to learn and thanks for letting me know.

Also, akata, wasn't meant to be a denigrating word. Nigerians just turned it into what it's today.

I believe it's a Yoruba word for 'wild cat' or 'black panther'. And I do get called 'akata' as well sometimes, when they don't call me 'oyinbo'.

So, stop trying to start some ish like Yorubas twisted their language to denigrate AAs

Unu cut that out

All you Nigerians were selling slaves

Most blacks in the New World have ancestry from modern Nigeria and/Angola
During colonialism, yes. But was that by choice or was other villages kidnapping others in those villages for crumbs or to protect themselves from the cacs. Ya'll say that as if Europeans gave them options. When posters talk about slave state and non-slave state, we are talking about before West Africa was destroyed by colonialism.

I DON'T want to be descendant from slave trading c00ns. Which is why I hate Coastal West African history... I can't hold it anymore...:yeshrug:

When it come to the Igbos from what I read at least many of them were raided. Rather descend from Upper West Africans. Hell maybe the Dogon people.:wow:

Plus you need to stop using sites like Ancestry.com as examples. The majority of the AA autosomal structure has NOT been mapped and stuff like ancestry.com are not good examples. Nigerian/Angolan DNA depends on the region.
It depends on the time period. Igbos were some of the first in the trade but it was the interaction the Europeans had which made them not requested as many. Slave trading was more than just chattel, it was like a football database. They knew their skill-set, personally types, willingness to fight, etc. That being said, many Igbos were stolen, it's tragic when I heard about the personal horror stories today. Believe it or not, their was people alive as recently as a year ago that lived that time where some villages was kidnapping people into selling those in other villages into slavery. That being said, you must remember, when caught, they kill all of those who kidnapped, burn and curse the village forever. You do not realize how evil it was and how desperate some were.

:francis: I dont believe in Biafra. would rather a restructured nigeria.

while biafra for igbos would sound good not every person in the Niger delta agrees.

no one has time to warring between ikwerre(igbo), over land or itsekiri(1 million) , edos( 5 million), urhobos(3 million), or yorubas(30+ million)

Too much headache to be arguing over what land or people are going where.

Niger delta tribes are all related to both igbo and yoruba - that's how my dad explains ethnicity to me.

A restructured/united Nigeria isn't happening at this point. I say, let the Igbos liberate themselves and let them have Biafra. It would be better for all.

Lol i'm not against it. I have no say in nigerian politics. I'm saying I already know what a broken south nigeria does.

You guys keep saying igbo yorubaa and hausa.

They are not the only tribes nigeria. Nor will they be the most affected by a broken nigeria.

I think I read something like that.
