1) rappers started singing
2) singers can’t sing, dance, or play instruments anymore
3) this generation is obsessed with toxic lyrics so modern r&b isn’t vulnerable and feels forced
4) the rise of autotune
5) people aren’t coming up in the church anymore. Most music legends started in the church and learned skills that made their music contributions better.

After a certain point, Black artists needed to have an “edge” to get noticed in the industry and appeal to a younger audience.

Even The Weeknd had to sing about drugged up sex, having orgies, popping pills, bytches popping p*ssy, coke binges and say the n-word to stand out from his contemporaries in the beginning of his career

Record labels figured out it's cheaper to pay one guy to make rap beats for people to sing over than to pay to keep a band, composers, song writers, etc....on staff for an artist.

And if you gonna cheap out with shyt then you might as well just push out non-singing models who slang p*ssy instead of actual talented singers.

shyts more vulgar than rap these days unfortunately. It’ll start off sounding cool and chill and then someone will come on talking sucking dikks, poppin p*ssy and then saying bytch this and hoe that repeatedly :snoop:

Case in point. I had this on one of my playlists for a while and bumped it several times while cruising with my wife until one day when I actually took a second to listen to the lyrics. It's not overly raunchy, but it's not something I'm really trying to chill to with my lady either.

I get what you're saying. But don't forget that there always been unscrupulous people in church, especially certain preachers.
Regular church attendance is associated with 50 percent reduction in divorce rates. It's better for families

There was a raunchy RnB male act from the 90s that began the downward trend..cursing all over the show.
They tried to add some edginess to RnB, and eventually it became a spitting image of hiphop.

Exactly.

Like...EGGZACTLY!

No more innuendos

Now it's "let me fukk" just sang in a falsetto

this has always been the answer and people keep asking the same questions.

Having talent doesn't get you paid like it used to.
