I want the league to get back to having lots of very good to great featured backs like the early 00s

Priest Holmes
LaDainian Tomlinson
Ricky Williams
Curtis Martin
Jamal Lewis
Marshall Faulk
Clinton Portis
Edgerrin James
Travis Henry
Ahman Green
Stephen Davis
Deuce McAllister

:wow:

Those were before the days of "quarterback driven league" where a team could be elite off the strength of their running back, and more running backs were the faces of their franchises.

No RBBC in sight :wow:

college systems are making the transition more difficult, and less practice time under the new cba is making that more difficult transition take longer. teams are starting fresh a lot of the time because these lineman dont learn the techniques that will carry over to being a plus nfl lineman. obviously there are exceptions, but there are WAY less great o lineman than there were just 5 years ago. once a lot of these vets retire, they will be very scarce. d lineman also seem to be getting bigger/stronger/faster, and coupled with the decrease in o lineman overall skill a lot of teams lines will just look overwhelmed

Fat nikkas are getting a little better shape and are doing more shyt. Jake Long was the last one to come out and get that monster contract and like was said previously, the line had been devalued in a sense so you got obvious specimens like Big Baby Miller and Deontay Wilder say fukk getting CTE and hopped up into boxing. NFL really ain't what's hot in these streets no more for these new nikkas.
They said fukk CTE and decided to embark in a career in boxing? :jbhmm:

Maybe I should have clarified. Dominant big men chose other routes. Deontay isn't getting hit much. He lays the opponent out. Better than sitting in the trenches and ramming a guy 60-70 times a game, 16 plus times a year.,

thats as if to say he made a life choice at some point as a kind whether he would be an elite, dominant athlete in either football or boxing

it just doesnt work like that in reality

I dont think tall nikkas trying to play offensive linemen no more, thats probably the biggest issue lol.

But yeah, in the new offensive schemes of today, you really aint gotta be that good pass blocking. Just be good enough to where the QBs, who are more athletic than ever, can find somebody. You just gotta be physically dominant and do fairly well run blocking. You mentioned Greg Robinson, Greg wasnt THAT bad pass blocking, but it took him years of development to get that mediocre. Our run heavy offense relied on unconventional snapping times too, sometimes we were fast and sometimes we were dirt slow. We put out giant, physical beasts, that can plow down on that line run blocking wise. That seems to be alot of other program's MO too.

Big guys are also becoming more athletic. A lot of these DL would've been OL in a past life as 6'5" 300 lb dudes weren't as common or nearly as explosive in general. They would've been the biggest guys on the field and put on OL by default early on. Now these guys have the athleticism that keeps them on the DL.

It's almost like in basketball how big men are groomed on the perimeter early on now, leading to the lack of low post players today :lupe:

I've posted this in here before.

The spread offense killed them.

These kids come out of school no longer knowing how to drive block or with the skills of past linemen who played in differeent offenses. With NFL coaches on shorter leashes, they no longer have the time to "teach."

Look at some of the teams you're fans of. Ever wonder why so many linemen started off as scrubs for your squad but years later went on to be good linemen on other teams? It's because it took them years to finally get coached up.
