What film seems like it doesn’t belong in a certain director’s filmography?

For Love Of The Game follows A Simple Plan and The Quick & The Dead in Raimi's attempts to be considered a serious filmmaker after the Evil Dead films.

I also realize I'm only in this thread to give counter arguments lol.

Those other two at least have a little bite to them, from what I remember. Can't say the same for a baseball movie about an old guy.

I feel like Steve McQueen's Widows was a pretty big depature from what he had done previously.

Much less austere, and more genre driven. Still technically very impressive and it had more depth than most heist films but I always thought it was a weird turn for him to take.

I wasn't a fan of this film. Way too pretentious for the story it was trying to sell.

Story wise. But all his directorial style traits you see in his other movies were not in this one
You’re right, I haven’t seen the movie in a minute.
My theory why the Scorsese-isms were toned down because Cape Fear was more of a mainstream movie compared to other Scorsese movies. I think Spielberg has a production credit on the movie also
Edit: Spielberg’s company Amblin produced the film, but Spielberg himself didn’t get a personal credit

Apparently speilberg was supposed to direct Cape Fear and Scorsese was supposed to direct Schindler's list List. And they swapped
