Not the first superhero movie......but it really woke up hollywood to the fact that there was still a hungry superhero fandom market there to be exploited.

It really was the gateway drug for the modern superhero film explosion

and human characters

He was John Wick before John Wick

Idk breh. We’ve had only a few imitators do this and for me only one of them did it right and that’s lethal weapon. Rush hour doesn’t count because that’s just taking the buddy cop idea started with Freebie and the bean and making it a black guy and an Asian. shyt all of these movies (lethal weapon, 48 hrs, rush hour, running scared) are taking whar freebie and the bean did. And that was a white guy and a Hispanic guy.
