If you want the real answer people (women included) want what they can't have. Typically people want an unrealistic fantasy. It's just like people want to win the lottery. What they want is an ideal lover that exist in their own head and nowhere else.

Ultimately most of us settle for something less than the ideal lover. If the person we settle for meets a high percentage of the ideal lovers qualities we'll even backwards rationalize that they are the ideal lover because subconsciously we know said person doesn't really exist.
