I lived in Nigeria for the past three years. Came back months back and leaving again in two weeks.

Dele Giwa was my dad's best friend. You know what happened to him. My dad died of a heart attack heart broken, two weeks after losing a re-election in a rigged campaign.

Black immigrants come here not wanting to get it. Sometime in 2018, we had a Minority Parents meeting at my son’s school. The boy attends a real saddity private school so there was an international gathering of minority parents at the meeting. My wife and I disclosed that as Black parents, we usually get all the Black parents together several times a year at our house to talk about issues unique to us as parents and our children. So of COURSE, the Nigerian parent, just in the states a few months, hears this and says they don’t raise their child to see color. The rest of us Black parents at the meeting all looked at each other with like , collectively annoyed at her naivety.

Fast forward to the following January.
My wife gets a call from the UNigerian asking to meet up for lunch. Before she accepts, my calls me wondering why she reached out. I said “think she had her nikka moment yet? Maybe it’s about that!! ”

Confirmed.

During their lunch, Nigerian discloses how she joined the general parents association at the school and was in complete disbelief at how the rich and snooty oyinbo parents at my son’s school are so discriminatory, saying they’re not like this during her time in U.K. and wants to know when we are going to have a next Black parent get together.


I don’t give a f***...I always say that Black immigrants are always a day late when it comes to matters of race, but whatever she experienced, I’m glad it woke her ass up.

Most Black immigrants come with the expectation of making it as a success in America or Canada. They can't look at things as anything more or less than they got great responsibility and expectations.

That whole asslimation nonsense is common with people who see speaking of race as a negative trait. We see athletes and entertainers on that wave. Are they now Nigerian immigrants? Come on son, this is common in Black America. It's called blind selection.

That's issue with the school is specifically unaware delusion. This is common with privileged Africans. This isn't rare either. My wife Coworker had this nikka moment and she was shocked, my wife who on the same shyt I am on looked at her like, what the fukk did you expect. Then she digged in and the girl just always been from a place of privilege as her dad was a big oil executive and her mother was a professor in Yorubaland and she didn't realize the level of how far racism goes with whites. She like everyone knows it exist but how deep, they don't know.

Once again, privilege Africans are from a completely different world than even other Africans much less the average ADOS

I tire of these conversations. I recommend that Africans go back to their homelands. There are not that many of us in the West in grand scheme of things anyway. Go back to Africa and make Africa great once more.

I’m Zimbabwean on the East Coast. America only offers money, education and infrastructure to Africans. We can recreate these things in Africa if we work for it. We will never truly be at home in America. Whites hate our presence and non-whites also hate us. The only true home for an African is Africa.

I’ve always wanted to participate in rebuilding Zimbabwe politically, culturally and economically. I want to open businesses in Zim. Raise my kids there. I want to die there. I want to speak Ndebele and Shona to my countrywomen and countrymen and eat indigenous food in peace. I don’t feel at peace in America. I never will.

And I’ve realized it for a while: we’re just diff groups of people with diff aspirations. That’s why we quarrel. Our values, hopes and beliefs don’t align. That’s okay. Let’s stop forcing flat blackness. There are AAs and then there are Zimbabweans, Nigerians, Congolese, Kenyan, etc. Let’s move along shall we?

Pan-Africanism will always ring relevant to me but currently I think the continent must lead in that. The continent must fix itself than other conversations can be had.

I don't find many Africans having such discernment over who is who. Black Americans are either all this or that. Aint no shade of gray as you tried to dress up as.

I look at it like this....I come away unimpressed by Nigerians black world view with me living between both the states and their. Its my duty to help the nation because I chose to follow in the footsteps of the men I came up with. But being there and hearing their thoughts on the diaspora and their view on race, even as it relates to the making of Nigeria, is disturbing to me.

I'm now interested in spending time in Ghana because I think their president gave them a bit more of a global Black view of the world.

Niqqas WERE thinking about that as a collective in this country, but America shut it down.

There were TONS of Black independent schools that came out of the 60s which America shut down.

My boy's family in Bed Stuy had the largest Pan Africanist school in the country. Had Gil Scot Heron, Kwame Nkrumah, all of these types visiting them. But the school was destroyed by local police harassment and the city coming down on them.

This was the case for pan africanist schools all over the country. So of COURSE your cousin is a symptom of that. I'm into what are the causes.
