Well it is old testament levels of 'cold' but Job's true allegiance and loyalty to god as an example in and of itself is worth the tribulations he went through... Plus it proved to satan without question that the stregnth of faith in god goes well beyond posessions and favor. Good comes with the bad, and one shouldn't curse the name of the lord simply because things are going poorly.

He tested job's will to prove that A: satan has no power that is not given to him, and that B: a riteous man's loyalty to god >>>>> fortune and gain and can and should out weigh the losd of allof that.
If god destroys my family so be it; It is his will. i look to the story of job in my darkest times.
