You heard Kendrick rap on 5 studio albums, an EP and features. Plus 4 diss tracks in a month span. Rap Kendrick hasn't gone anywhere. Artist grow. Branching out and experimenting also allows for longevity.

I think of you're looking for consistent stagnation or a redundant sound, then their are artist that fit criteria.

this.

He can rap and do a rock album at the same time. It's been done well before :heh:

That's a weird take. The most celebrated black artists have always mixed genres. Both critically acclaimed and those only celebrated by us

Stevie, prince, mj, James brown, jimi hendrix, EW&F, Rick james, Isaac hayes, marvin gaye, cameo, p funk, outkast, the soulquarians, etc.

If anything, black artists get told to do the opposite. Just stay within one genre and keep it simple

This too

Double album

Disc 1 - Something along the lines of TPAB/MMTBS

Disc 2 - 12 tracks all bars no hooks. West coast influenced Beats that merge into the next song like its one long track. No longer than 40 minutes total

You just said Kendrick, a rapper, rapping again is stagnantion thus doing rock = growth.

Beyoncé got a ton of “growth” accolades for doing “country”

Mariah was placed in the pop lane to be more appealing and when she went to more urban music was told she was stunting her growth and career.
No one told Beyonce to do a country album

Rage against the machine. I posted them earlier. Probably my favorite but not the first or the last

Disclaimer. Nu metal is not included in this discussion:mjlol:

But you got ice t's heavy metal band, body count

Run dmc and ll cool j if you want to go way back. I'd say public enemy is lowkey rock with their influence as well. Can't see there being a ratm without them. Beastie boys as well mixed hip hop, rock, and hardcore

Death grips is a more experimental group that mixes rap, rock, and noise

Bands like faith no more and the red hot Chilli peppers also had a strong rap influence on their early albums

I haven't listened to a lot of Linkin park but they're not bad. Zebrahead got some nice stuff too

I honestly don't think we're getting it this year..

I doubt the beef would rush him to put some shyt out.. in fact I'd say the opposite as I doubt he wants his artistic integrity questioned

No, they didn’t. But it’s not until black artists go ursine their primary genre do many of them get the growth label. Which, for an artist like Kendrick, is a dumb litmus test - he grows and changes every album

Agreed. That's why I'm fine with him doing a "rock album" because he has the musical intelligence to do it properly. I do love when he's just rapping his off. That's why I think he should do a double album. He has so much to give

I hope he makes whatever he wants.

i like Kendrick artistry...so whether its in the vein of DAMN or some something totally left field (rock) i look forward to it.

Kendrick is like a Prince to me. They need to challenge themselves to keep interested.
