An album of 616 in LAs might have goat potential.
Loved the production on that record. Traditional hip hop as a base. Prog rock, futuristic overlaying that traditional sound.. could be an interesting sound for him. Him working with Soundwave and Jack Antonoff on that track, shyt sounded fresh

Wayne gave us Rebirth, so I'm not opposed to Dot dropping a Rap-rock album. I remember hearing this rumor about a horrorcore album too :jbhmm:

Put Not Like Us as track 2 like Ether and Takeover and have the other three disses be bonus tracks

Andre did a flute album and people act like he killed they damn dog.

As someone who thinks he’s overrated by everybody let the man do what he want.
Me posting my opinions on a board aren’t stopping anyone from doing what they what they want. Conversely, I can comment about it the way I want

Rage against the machine. I posted them earlier. Probably my favorite but not the first or the last

Disclaimer. Nu metal is not included in this discussion:mjlol:

But you got ice t's heavy metal band, body count

Run dmc and ll cool j if you want to go way back. I'd say public enemy is lowkey rock with their influence as well. Can't see there being a ratm without them. Beastie boys as well mixed hip hop, rock, and hardcore

Death grips is a more experimental group that mixes rap, rock, and noise

Bands like faith no more and the red hot Chilli peppers also had a strong rap influence on their early albums

I haven't listened to a lot of Linkin park but they're not bad. Zebrahead got some nice stuff too
You reaching on a lot of those acts lol far from hip hop I can’t see kdot sounding like none of that

But we saw him work with the guy from fun Taylor produced on the diss track so I can see him working on this and I see kinda stadium tracks in the Eminem vein

He sang a lot on Mr morale i think he’s gonna rap more this time around like that the disses this guy is ready to showcase his lyrics

Rock is a more diverse genre than you giving it credit for

You don't even need guitars or distortion to be rock

It's like rap. Lots of subgenres and off shoots. Except way more considering rock is older

I'd like to hear kendrick on some more unique sounding material if he heads in that direction. Maybe something like the palm desert scene as inspiration :jbhmm:

The rumor was that his last album would be rock inspired, and then it turned out to being heavily piano driven. Maybe this one has the rock stuff.

My theory is that the Drake battle resulted in the album morphing more rap-focused and more aggressive. Cardo, Alchemist, and Mustard produced three of the disses and I'd imagine he has a cache of beats from each.

I feel like he’s going to come “home” for this next album. Every other album he goes experimental and then he brings it back. I think Kendrick’s been VERY strategic all the way down to when and how he set off this battle. The aggressiveness of Like That wasn’t random. Kendrick wants to cement his claim as the greatest artist of his generation and the best way to that os to defeat the top rapper (he did) and then drop a classic album that outshines the competition. Cole is coming with The Fall Off and Drake is presumably gearing up to release something. If Kendrick can lay waste to both of their rollouts and fulfill the promise he made on the Control verse a decade ago he’ll be an undisputed top 10 rapper of all time. But he’s going to need a Damn level event album to tie it all together. And I think thats exactly what he’s going to give us.
