Which party signed off on the voting rights act?
Which party supported and signed off on the GI bill?
Which party was the last to actually create a government surplus?
Which party supported and signed off on the affordable care act?
Which party CREATED social security?
Which party pushed and signed off on the infrastructure bill to make sure your state gets access to money to fix roads?
Which party created the child tax credit?
Which party is trying to get you student loan forgiveness?
Which party CREATED the department of education?

Which party is opposing ALL of those things?

It's very easy to convince yourself that you're smarter than everyone else when you simply say "no, you're stupid and wrong" then walk away refusing to elaborate or rebut a person's statements.

That shyt is worthless in this century. Cynicism is not enlightenment, it's complacency masquerading as intelligence.

The tragedy is that all those realizations, once they are in place, are taken for granted by the spoiled brats that make up a significant part of the West. Or they want it for them but not for others. Selfishness and short-term thinking are a plague.

Their plan for climate change? It doesn't exist. Even if it did, nobody can fix it. End fossil fuel subsidies? no! Fund windmill and solar power grids? no! Tax polluters? NO!

Their plan for student debt? It's not that big of a deal. Work three more jobs and eat ramen noodles for 5 years and you can pay it off. Loan forgiveness? no! Public university and college? no!

Their plan for homelessness? Lock up anyone who is homeless. They are a drain on society. But aren't our tax dollars still paying for homeless people to be housed, clothed, and fed in jail? IT DOESNT MATTER!

Their plan for cost of living? It's the immigrants fault. If we deport them prices will go down(somehow). Punish landlords who raise the rent? NO! Punish grocery chains who react to higher wages by raising prices? NO! Cut taxes on people making less than 100k a year? NO!

Their plan for unemployment? It's because people are lazy! But employers keep rejecting people's resumes. Doesn't matter! that's your own fault! Create a federal jobs program so people who are unemployed can work and be productive instead of relying on welfare? NO! That's government spending! Cut the welfare benefits!

Their plan for balancing the deficit? None. Cut military spending? NO! Increase capital gains and property taxes on people with net worth's exceeding 10M? NO! CUT taxes on them!

I really don't understand what the fukk these people actually do. I remember Bush getting elected and he said he'd cut wasteful govt spending like every other republican. What did he do? He EXPANDED the government by creating the DHS and TSA. He wasted literally trillions of dollars on two wars that produced nothing of value for anyone who wasn't a military contractor or Israeli.

Trump got elected to "drain the swamp" and all he did was keep firing the people HE hired, then gave everyone who consisted of "the swamp" whatever they asked for. Then he put tariffs which are a TAX on the customer. The producers always pass the cost of the tariff onto the customer and he's about to do that stupid shyt AGAIN.

White people aren't even going to get the white supremacy they wanted since dude is now has at least THREE indians running government departments, and wants more indian immigrants to come to the country. What are you actually getting that will improve your life if you voted republican?
Admittedly I have benefitted from the conservative appealate courts thanks to Trump.

I've spoken on it here before but I ran a drone company (now defunct for personal health reasons). The IRS came up with a stupid "beneficial ownership" form. It's basically the same stuff you already gave the state govt to get your LLC and the stuff you already gave the IRS to get you business tax id. But they made another form.

This is kind of like how the govt already has your pay information from your stock broker, W2, or 1099 but still wastes our time by making us file the exact same paperwork in a tax return.

They created this form without telling anybody in the business community, and then attached a fine if you don't submit the form. Even our tax accountants were unaware of this sneaky regulation. And they made this stupid form retroactive so if you have ever had a company in America prior to 2023, you must turn it in .Think of all the people who are ignorant of this form? Think of the people who shut down businesses during covid and don't know they need to file this form. It was a money grab and shameless creation of jobs for IRS agents. They charge $500 per day after Jan1 if you don't file.

Sorry if I'm rambling , but their justification for this form was to "stop money laundering" but they exempted all businesses making more than a million a year revenue. (Because they have lawyers to fight this stupid form , and the IRS would lose). The irony is that it's those same big million dollar businesses that do most of the money laundering.

In response, a group of Republican small businesses in Louisiana and Oklahoma pooled resources to sue the IRS just like the million dollar businesses can. And they sued under the conservative principles of "govt overreach". And this was music to the ears of those trump appointee judges that issued an injunction that stopped this stupid jobs program form :blessed:

For once, I legit agree that it's govt overreach and the IRS doesn't have the right to create such onerous restrictions on business owners, without congress specifically tell them to do so. And congress was acting beyond existing law to pass the bill that created the BO form
.But I'm also conflicted because this was the same concervative argument Republicans used to shut down bidens student loan plan with the DOE.:francis:

Playing stupid 101

Republicans have been going above and beyond to show everyone that they are not the same as Democrats for well over a decade
here's what depresses me.... if you took a republican voter and showed them the republican party and the democratic party side by side they'd think the republicans were the party of righteousness and democrats the party of devil worshipers....

but if you took a democratic voter and showed them the exact same two parties they wouldn't be able to tell them apart from each other....

like there were literally democrats who saw hillary and trump as identical twins.... no republican saw it that way.... trump was and is their lord and savior.... hillary was to them the wicked witch of the north...

it's crazy... beyond insane... democrats can't get votes from republican voters (think kamala running around with liz cheney) because republicans see them as the most heinous demonic creatures ever... and democrats can't get votes from democratic voters (think all the dem voters who chose the couch) either because they see democrats as republicans as well...

just a lose/lose situation for democrats.... if only democratic politicians could differentiate themselves from republican politicians without being smeared as going too far left.....

I think that democrats are trying to appeal to people by saying "we won't make things worse"

That isn't a compelling message. There are too many democrats in office who benefit from private equity firms(they have funds managed by them) to propose something like a ban on PEFs owning family houses.

They have too many houses themselves to propose a ban saying that no individual is allowed to own more than 3 residences.

They have mutual funds and ETFs which have holdings that include fossil fuel, military, and tech stocks to redirect fossil fuel subsidies into green energy firms and responsibly run tech firms. They personally benefit from Boeing doing well financially so they won't vote against more military spending.

There are too many Carter era democrats around that believe that the thing that worked only ONCE(trying to appeal to Republicans--when Clinton won) would work again. Obama crushed John McCain and mitt Romney by successfully painting them as out of touch millionaires. I still remember when John McCain couldn't answer the question of how many homes he owned. During a financial crisis when people were LOSING their homes, that was one of the worst possible things he could have done. Democrats got at him for that, and kept emphasizing how rich he was. When Obama ran against Romney, he emphasized how the guy likes firing people and how if he was in charge he wouldn't have done shyt like cash for clunkers or signed off on stimulus checks. He ethered his whole campaign by emphasizing how he's so much like the rich a$$hole that laid everyone off at the company.

It worked for him. The thing that a Democrat could do that would help him win credibility not only with the base, but working voters is to make a public show of divesting from companies that are making people's lives worse, and immediately cutting off the rich people he's been hanging out with. It takes courage to sacrifice personal gain for the public good, and so far the people with the most power in the democrat party are FAR too comfortable to do that and to support the kind of policies that will get people working 2 or 3 jobs, unemployed, or terrified because they're retirement age and are terrified of not being able to afford their mortgage because of changing prices and interest rates.

Democrats need to speak to the economic realities of most of the population by offering dramatic change. It's what got Obama into the white house and it's what helped democrats secure the black vote. Republicans had black people voting for them in the past because of Lincoln and other Republicans that actually did things for us. But then the switch started when FDR won and was making sweeping changes that black people still benefited from.

He was about to do a second bill of rights even.

But dummies here will tell you that AOC or Bernie are communists and radicals. Tell me you can't hear that shyt and think "damn that sounds good".

He said that shyt in an era with less rights for everyone who wasn't white. If they could pull off shyt like the new deal in an era where black people were literally being murdered and it was a public event with people going there with their kids to watch for fun, why can't they do that now? It's greed. Too many democrats don't want to make drastic change because they're beneficiaries of things being the way they are. People aren't satisfied with half measures, they want serious change and the millionaires in the party have to be willing to take the financial Ls for the greater good. Get the base motivated by offering to punish their enemies(billionaires) and help their families(tax cuts, entitlements, raised minimum wage) people are angry. Don't tell them to calm down, tell them who is making their lives worse and offer to make those people pay. Republicans are very good at taking that anger and telling them not to direct it at the guy who owns 6 houses, but instead at the guy who sweeps the floors in the office whose English isn't so good. Or to direct it at the black college student that studied his ass off to get into a decent school. Or to direct it at the guy who recently got fired and became homeless.

Republicans have mastered the art of getting poor people to vote against their own interests because we are such a selfish and small minded society that we see ourselves in an old, fat, billionaire who claims to hate immigrants (despite his wives and a good chunk of his employees being that) because low key we want to be like him in some way or another.
It takes 2. Democrats go overboard with shyt. One day Im agreeing with giving the gays rights and allowing them to marry. Then that morphs in gender reassignment to elementary kids.

Their answer to everything is more taxes. They don't want to cut anything. They want to give whores a salary and housing for being whores. Then they want illegals to have free health care. Then they don't want to send any of these muthafukkaz back.

If it was a normal republican, I would have voted for them. But there was no way I could support Trump. Thats just insanity

School choice for one.

Don't preach to me about climate change and then tax me more & remove incentives after I install solar panels. Ok, I get an EV but I can't charge it at home in the summer from 3PM - 9PM because it will over load the grid. More measured approaches including ALL sources of energy seems more prudent. I had more energy blackouts in the last 6 years then in the previous 30 combined. My backup generator runs on solar & natural gas - and you want to ban that too?!

What are the benefits of an open border and unchecked/unenforced immigration laws? Ask any US border state, European, Asian, South American country or pre 2000 Clinton/Obama why it doesn't work.

Why should I pay for your time screwing around at University or trade school? I worked my way through school or deferred school when I couldn't. If you want to trade votes for school debt, so be it, but I need the same write off or cash.

Funny, but the more I realized that I would be held directly accountable for my decisions and actions and that I had more control of my future success than led to believe, the more conservative I became.

It depends on if you believe Mayor Mike Bloomberg is a “republican republican”. If you believe he is which he campaigned as for years then continue if not then ignore this.

Despite what I believe of Mayor Bloomberg he did lead the charge to keep JetBlue airlines in Queens. Salt Lake City and Florida really was coming up to take that company from us and Bloomberg did change the business tax code to lower business taxes to keep them here. Why was that important? If you live in Queens you know the airline industry is a massive employer here. I believe they are Third behind NYHQ (New York hospital Queens) and the MTA.

Secondly, Bloomberg was the first to push certification over degrees and pushed CUNY to expand the certification and trade school programs. Now there’s a difference between why Bloomberg did this and your Desantis type would. Desantis and the Trump dumbassess believe education is indoctrination and all that nonsense. Bloomberg just understood ya nikkas needed a job so here’s the alternative.

Side note: Mayor Deblasio (who I generally miss) expanded the CUNY program while the real real republican (Eric Adams) in office has completely ignored the k-12 and College system in NYC.

thank you for a well thought out and reasoned response.... i think i get what you're getting at...

if i understand you correctly, you're basically saying democrats don't fight for their constituents and the reason they don't fight for them is because they are bought off by the same people that republicans are bought off by.... i.e.: obama picks a milquetoast centrist for scotus but doesn't fight for him... republicans tell him to pound sand.... trump picks a hardline right wing nominee and fights tooth and nail for him... even though democrats are staunchly opposed to this nominee the republicans jam him through anyway....

democrats claim to believe something but give a weak attempt at implementing it, while republicans go to war for the ideas they want to pursue... so the democratic base feels like neither party is fighting for them while the republican base at least feels like republicans are fighting for them.... the result is staunch partisan support for republicans by the republican base and lukewarm support for democrats from the democratic base....

i often call the democrats controlled opposition... it would be nice if they morphed into real opposition....
