you can call them morals but wouldnt u agree that some of the things religion teaches are immoral and intolerant to those outside of that religion

I can agree with that. But only to a certain extent. I think that some people still "be doing too much" if you know what I mean. Like Judaism, Christianity and Islam all worship the same God, they just worship him differently. I don't think they're supposed to be killing each other but they do it anyway.

I can't imagine any Christian doctrine saying "kill Muslims" because there were no Muslims at the time.

Well here is your problem. You're identifying atheist as a organized group. There are plenty of atheist who has done good for the world not in the name of atheism. Fact is most atheist don't put themselves out there like that so it would be impossible to answer that question accurately and if your looking for organized things that atheist groups have done in the name of atheism, im sure you can google it. I can't speak for other atheist and more importantly we all don't have the same goal.

And as far as controlling your destiny, most religious only have 2 paths (heaven and hell). When you are not governed by those you have the ability create your own path or paths.

A man can clean himself up for multiple reasons other than religious ones...love, children, wanting to live amongst society, failure, poverty, family ect..ect. Don't sit there and tell me religion is the only thing that gives the man the will to do better for themselves.

I'm still not understanding this controlling your own destiny thing. You said "most religious only have 2 paths (heaven and hell). When you are not governed by those you have the ability create your own path or paths". I don't get that. Atheists don't believe in an afterlife so there is only 1 path, or rather no paths at all.

The funny thing is I did google this question. The results were not pretty lol. That's why I came here to ask "the people" directly. I'm asking real live atheists.

And for the 1 millionth time, I never said religion is the only way to obtain morals. Yes, you can learn morals from other sources but that doesn't change the fact that religion also teaches morals.

:what: I said religion teaches morals. Why is that sentence so difficult for you to comprehend?

Religion teaches morals.
Religion teaches morals.
Religion teaches morals.

Keep reading it over and over until you understand that basic ass sentence.

If he got his morals from Muhammad then wouldn't that still be from religion? :wtf:

Religion teaches morals.
Again, religion teaches morals.

And belief in God alone will still keep people from doing certain things anyway.

Atheism is comparable to Theism not Atheism comparable to religion. Believing in God does not mean you follow a moral code. Following a religion means you follow some kind of moral code. Didn't you say you don't' follow a religion but believe in God. :leostare:

I would make a thread asking that question for you but I don't want people to think I'm the dumbass. :pachaha:

GOD, THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE GOD, THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE GOD, ALLAH, DOES NOT HAVE A SON.

Come on if you're just gonna say dumb shyt I have better things to do with my time. You don't know what the Abrahamic faiths are?

i have a basic idea. but no, i honestly did not know that the christian god who sent his son to die on the cross, is supposed to be the same as allah who does not have a son

:manny:

I am looking at it from this way both sides give you no real world benefits. If you want to bring morality into it then an atheist like a theist can follow any moral code they like.

Well I guess you learned something new today. At least I hope you did.

i did. apparently, there are 3 groups who each worship the same god in a different way by different rules, yet somehow all 3 groups are right. :scusthov: logic? reasoning? nah, religion :belip:

between me leaving work at 5:30 pm, going to my kids basketball practice and then sitting through dinner this thread went from :ld: to :troll: status. Be honest though it went almost 8 pages which isn't bad round these parts.
