I disagree and I showed you an example. Malcolm could have got his morals from lots of places, but he got them from religion, so in that example, that's all that's really relevant.

Now can you give an example of atheism changing anyone's life for the better like it's "rival" theism? If not, just say no and stop beating around the bush.

no because your example is weak. The morals they have came from the prophet Mohammed not his own personal belief in God.

I can see a benefit in the opposite end of the spectrum. Are you telling me there's nothing good any atheist can say about atheism?

Self awareness, being in control of your own destiny and not expecting a "negative" or "positive" outcome. When you start putting rewards or benefits on atheism you are destructing the point. Most of us live for no benefit other than the ones reality can create ie kids, happiness, wealth and health. There's no heaven or hell for us so we root ourselves in the present and not in a future that's not certain. IMO. To do good without guidance or reward, just out of the will to survive is good enough for me.

Why should the truth have any benefit?

I'm an atheist not because I expect something from it but rather because its the TRUTH. Period. I'm not gonna believe in a fairy tale just because it makes me feel good.

I'm used to this response. Every time I ask a question about atheism I get it. :hov:

Your inability to answer questions about your own ideology, philosophy, religion, whatever you wanna call it means the thread is stupid? Maybe it's not the thread that's stupid. After all, it's just a thread.

Well there's nothing to know about atheism other than atheists don't believe in the existence of God or Gods. That's it, that's all. You made this thread as if there is anything else that binds atheists....THERE AREN'T. We don't believe...that's it.

Malcolm X was always a religious person though. I think his father was a preacher

This is something I notice non-religious folks do a lot. Mistake titles with actual deeds.

"Muslim" terrorist blows up building means Islam must teach blowing up buildings.

Thug with cross tatted on his arm kills a rival drug dealer so Christianity must teach killing rival drug dealers.

Have you ever read Malcolm's autobiography? I don't care what his father was that nikka was NOT religious. He may have worn the title "Christian" but nothing he did had anything to do with Christianity.

However, him cleaning himself up was a direct result of religion.

You're missing the point. Probably intentionally because of your bias towards theism, but whatever.

It's like asking what's the benefit of believing that 1+1=2 as opposed to believing 1+1=3. If you honestly don't believe that god exists then you don't.

If somebody told me I'd go to heaven or be a better person if I started believing 1+1=3, I still wouldn't be able to do it because I just don't think it's true.

Bias towards theism? :comeon:

I notice a lot of you atheists turn to that pathetic tactic whenever a question is asked that you can't answer.

I never read the Quran or Islamic scriptures. Only psalms I read was on the arms of my nikkas.

Now I'm trying to learn some shyt and you can't answer my question so I'm "biased". FOH. Answer the question or get out the thread. I can't stand bytch moves like that.

:what: I said religion teaches morals. Why is that sentence so difficult for you to comprehend?

Religion teaches morals.
Religion teaches morals.
Religion teaches morals.

Keep reading it over and over until you understand that basic ass sentence.

If he got his morals from Muhammad then wouldn't that still be from religion? :wtf:

Religion teaches morals.
Again, religion teaches morals.

And belief in God alone will still keep people from doing certain things anyway.

I'm not talking about the afterlife or anything. I'm talking about how religion can clean a person up and turn them from a life of crime to a life of good.

What good has atheism brought to humanity? How has it helped us? That's what I'm asking. Has it benefited man in any way at all?

And why can't a religious person have self awareness or control of their own destiny?

Well here is your problem. You're identifying atheist as a organized group. There are plenty of atheist who has done good for the world not in the name of atheism. Fact is most atheist don't put themselves out there like that so it would be impossible to answer that question accurately and if your looking for organized things that atheist groups have done in the name of atheism, im sure you can google it. I can't speak for other atheist and more importantly we all don't have the same goal.

And as far as controlling your destiny, most religious only have 2 paths (heaven and hell). When you are not governed by those you have the ability create your own path or paths.

A man can clean himself up for multiple reasons other than religious ones...love, children, wanting to live amongst society, failure, poverty, family ect..ect. Don't sit there and tell me religion is the only thing that gives the man the will to do better for themselves.

you can call them morals but wouldnt u agree that some of the things religion teaches are immoral and intolerant to those outside of that religion
