Akane's hatred of supernaturals makes sense given how he became one of the clock keepers. Essentially, Aoi's life was put at risk and forced him to become one of them so he could save her. I don't blame him one bit. Especially when he gets in trouble because of Mirai and has to clean up her mess. Still, Hanako hasn't done anything to hurt Nene outside of jokes. Ultimately, this is something neither of the two will ever see eye to eye.
But we got the first giant reveal is regarding Nene's lifespan. This really is a moment where you think this is another one of Hanako's jokes and Nene will wake up. Sadly, he is being serious. It actually makes sense that those to death and those of spiritual power like the Minamoto can interact with the supernatural. Still, it doesn't make it any less heartbreaking to hear Nene's time is coming short.
I got to give credit to Kou for sticking to his ideals. Yes, what Hanako says is on the more realistic side because it's better to make the most out of Nene's time. Though we hear Hanako say you got my hopes, which is a bit of hint he cares about Nene and wants to help her. But if we recall what Tsuchigomori said, you can't change the future. Though the one person who did was Amane/Hanako. Although at this point, Hanako's past is such a mystery it is difficult to tell if there is even a shot of this happening.
I do love how Akane got inspired with Kou not giving. As he will save both Nene and Mitsuba. He could have let Kou forget about Nene's lifespan, but you can tell he is in Kou's corner. After all, Nene and Aoi are friends. As we return to from before Mirai got out and, as expected, Nene is back and is unaware of her fate.
At the end, we see Teru dragging Akane back to student council work. Cause of course, he is aware of Akane being the present Clock Keeper and involving the whole school def pissed him off. He really feels like that one character that is always watching and aware of what is going on.
