For the past year, it's been a great run. Tho you know old heads would complain new anime is shyt :russ:. Still too much anime def gets made but the quality at the top has really been having a great run.

But within the last year in no order

  • Frieren
  • Apothecary Diaries
  • SLF
  • Hyakkano
  • Dungeon Meshi
  • The Dangers in My Heart
  • Kingdom
  • Konosuba's return
  • Spice & Wolf Remake
  • Girls Band Cry
  • Black Butler's return
  • Yatagarasu
  • Elusive Samurai
  • NieR Automata
  • Monogatari's return
  • Dandadan
  • Re: Zero's return
  • Dragon Ball's return
  • DanMachi
  • Bleach TYBW
  • Orb
  • Ranma Remake
  • Urusei Yatsura Remake finishing up
  • S2 of Rurouni Kenshin Remake
In terms of top-notch adaptations would put Frieren, Monogatari & Dandadan at the top. If you told me back when CSM aired that when Dandadan would surpass CSM in anime popularity, I would never have believed you. Hell I didn't think they could do the Dandadan manga justice, but the cinematography is so good, which is why I put it at the same level as Frieren & Monogatari.
I totally agree. Frieren and Dandadan are the two best examples of an anime managing to not just give a great manga its proper adaptation, but to elevate the source material. That's ESPECIALLY impressive to me with the Acrobatic Silky backstory, because I know they had to be ambiguous about certain things (the rooftop leap), just to get it on-air.

The only downside is that some good anime are gonna get slept on and slip by because the elite stuff is drowning out their attention.

Ron Kamonohashi’s Forbidden Deductions Season 2 - Episode 20

Honestly, might be my favorite episode so far in S2. Since this wrapped up even better than the Shibuya arc, which is superb as well.

For a case where we knew who Hummingbird was, it was more a chess match between him and Ron. The big reveal was that Mitsuhashi was NyonNyon. Given the fact that NyonNyon was afraid of heights and obviously, the only reasonable expectation was she jumped out of the building. It was clear that NyonNyon was disguised. He met his goal and getting Mitsuhashi would have sealed his victory.

Tho Ron saw the hints coming. When Ron realized that Mitsuhashi was really NyonNyon it was clear that the fake NyonNyon jumped out of the building since the contradiction she is afraid of heights isn't in play. More likely, Hummingbird's associates lied to them.

Though learning of Hummingbird was doing everything, he can for his daughter because he messed up as a father. It feels like he is giving anything for her to smile and to be happy again. It was very touching. Like Toto said, it is still a crime, but you can't help but empathize with Hummingbird. Then you add that the artists got inspired, and it makes you think maybe we can overlook it?

I like how we see a difference of opinion with Ron and Toto. For Ron, he cared about learning the truth and someone who didn't have a father he didn't want to take that away from the daughter. Of course, Toto has a point that crimes are crimes and he should arrest him if they catch him again.

I have no idea if this is good or bad. Kadokawa pushes out so much bad anime. Essentially, anything animated by Engi is DOA. I doubt much positive comes from of it from a consumer pov. More adaptations, though I doubt there is an improvement on quality of anime and what we have already gotten from Kadokawa.

From a consumer pov all the anime on Netflix, Disney and HiDive that are owned by Kadokawa will now be on crunchyroll going forward.

  • Oshi no Ko
  • Emmience in Shadow
  • Dungeon Meshi
  • Spy Classroom
Though Crunchyroll as a service has gotten much worse since Sony bought them out. Even from this angle it doesn't look good.

It's actually bad as Sony will have a solidified stranglehold on the anime industry, now Crunchyroll will have a zero incentive to improve

Part 2 of S3 continues in February.

New studio, but director and staff look promising. Plus heard great things about the manga which I intend to read eventually.

I knew the minute the Void People tried to mind control Douren it was not going to work. As Shinsuke points out, the key is to accept your weakness, not run away from it. However, that is not easy to accept. It wouldn't be your weakness if it was easy. Basically, for Douren his mindset is so what if I lose to Jinun I will get him next time. Shakuyaku waking up and seeing both Shinsuke & Tama crying was a really sweet moment.

So Banshouou really wasn't controlled, but rather he wanted to be entertained. This was rooted when he saw Senya and Mudo fight back at the beginning of Part 2. Like an old man seeing the two young kids fighting and getting motivated to try that. Banshouou more so wants to taste combat since a selfless Katawara wouldn't go for that I presume. Hard to tell if Banshouou's threat is something he would actually do.

Kind of not surprised Yazen mentioned Mudo is stronger than Senya, but Senya has a much bigger potential, which he already pointed to us before. It's no surprise Yazen, Jinun and Douren were in sync without having to say what they wanted to request from Yazen. Also, nice to see the katawaras that Shinsuke freed leading the charge. Nice to show off to the Void People who were using force to control them and here friendship and trust is why they are helping Senya here.

Sad to hear that fan reaction to the ending of Oshi no Ko has been negative just like Kagaya before it. Must be a thing with this author to botch endings. Seems like a lot of popular Manga get that part of the series wrong.

Well, it isn't a surprise Freya is starting to have second thoughts given the ending of last episode. Though Hedin's actions feel more out of jealously then what is in the best interest of Freya. Bell is the one Freya wants, and she had so much fun on her date with Bell I think that triggered Hedin. It is getting uncomfortable with the rest of the Freya Family where you can tell they are starting to feel bad for Bell. Clearly, Freya's plan was to make Bell feel alone and isolate him. Hedin essentially is starting to make them start to be on his side.

Hedin taking Allen off guard duty in the tavern allowed Bell to talk to Mia, which was the first big domino. She tells him she is an outcast member of the family. It does make sense that why it went undetected that Freya as Syr worked there. She gives Bell the same advice that she did in S1.

That memory made him remember Aiz. I am curious how much the Loki Family know about the situation. For Bell, if Aiz forgot about the time she spent with him, that would crush. Even with this Freya mind controlled city of Orario the time they spent training is still ingrained in Aiz. Proving two things that time is something that even Freya's mind control can't remove and that time spent holds as much meaning for Aiz as it does Bell. Bell essentially has hope to continue fighting.

Hestia is in a tough spot, but despite being brainwashed, Welf still has the armor that he made specially for Bell. It is another nice and sad scene at the same time because Welf is the craftsman he is today because of Bell. The love he put in it is thanks to Bell. Meanwhile, no surprise she bursts into happiness seeing Asufi because everyone else has been brainwashed.

Screen_Shot_2024-11-21_at_9.27.28_AM.png

The Hermes situation is interesting. Essentially, what he is dealing with is being brainwashed, but it is basically looped if he learns details. I think the idea of Hermes plan is that he wanted to get brainwashed so he could make a bigger impact with moves. Since if he wasn't brainwashed he would have to worry about hiding from the Freya Family. This makes his comment I could be your enemy to Hestia more clear. Curious how Hermes goes forward from here.
