Can someone break down the appeal of Bakemonogatari? It doesn't seem like it's trying to be funny. It also doesn't come across as a drama. So far it seems to be long scenes of dialog where people talk about abstract fantasy concepts with an offbeat deadpan dry style humor that's more for the characters in the dialog than the audience watching it. Even the characters don't seem to find it funny though.

The show feels like I'm looking at an avant-garde painting. It's almost like the video game Death Stranding. People are raving about it and lavishing it with praise and I'm like what is this?

Is there fights in this? The chick hits the main guy with a stapler in his mouth and she's got all these sharp items on her as weapons and he's talking about being a vampire converted back to a human and a crab that takes a person's weight.
Personally I loved everything about it from the story, the dialogue, humor, the interactions of the characters, the characters themselves. Everything was amazing to me :wow: not to mention Shaft's' animation is fire

The main appeal is the dialogue and characters, plus the animations amazing and abstract and has this atmosphere and feel to it it's just :wow::banderas:

Monogatari is not for everybody, if you don't love the dialogue and characters you probably won't enjoy it much

There is fights but it doesn't happen often. In Bake there's barely any fighting. I recall off the top of my head 1 fight

This is an all time bad adaption :dead:

Wtf I stopped watching it once they omitted oh boy that episode and skip goldy pond and wanted to wait till it was done but man seriously this got to be biggest falloff in anime history for adaptation
I ain’t even done with manga since I got patience for the American release it’s only 2 vols left

THIS IS WHY I AM #ReadGang

a great manga or novel series can be trash on the anime front

the appeal is in the presentation, waifu ensemble cast with their own contained stories, tons of exposition and characterization beyond -dere types. this is the most thorough fanservice anime of all time, and that's pretty much why it's one of the highest selling anime of all time.

Bakemono is a bit slow, and chronologically is not even the first series. Best to start with the Kizu trilogy.

they might as well call it tpn ultra Kai with how much they took out since Kai adapted more so manga with no fillers they took it 5 steps further and took out pieces and arcs of manga adaptation:scust:

I hope down the line they give it a proper adaptation :snoop: this series is too good for the anime to go out like this

Praying for The Promised Neverland: Brotherhood:wow:
