they were changing stuff in season 1 as well
yugo is a bad character. and if anything was ever gonna be changed, it was everything regarding him and that entire interaction. especially when groups later on were plainly better and got less shine
Yugo's backstory was kinda weak but not so weak that axing his character completely was a good sign of things to come.
It wasn't even him not being there that gave me such a bad feeling. It was the Tom and Jerry style soldiers letting the kids run circles around them. when what happened in the Manga when it happened there was much better executed
