Essential What Anime are you currently watching?

I wanted to say something about it but some folks here clearly aren't ready for another conversation about how two supporting characters are vastly more interesting than Yuji.

Damn near every character in that show is more interesting than Yuji. This shouldn't even be up for debate

I can't remember ever watching a show where everyone else is cooler/more interesting than the main character. Juju got that on lock. It doesn't keep the show from being good or anything. Its just super rare.

fukking facts. The show got good as hell during the last 2-3 episodes. I felt like Yuji's arc before that just dragged. Yeah the fights looked cool, but shyt was feeling hollow. Fast forward to where we at now and its like you watching a whole different show.

Only anime I seen improve this much recently was King's Raid. Ironically it comes out the same day and the main character in that one is boring too. Any time the show focuses on the dark elves or supporting characters, you get a good episode. Its like Friday is Supporting Character day or some shyt.

Show was never specifically about yuji tho, imo, he's basically just the vehicle for the viewer to be introduced to the world, hence him not hesitating to jump straight into the shyts ep 1


shyt even from jump Sukuna straight up said he was more interested in Megumi than yuji

We also know Gojo is clearly gonna be stronger than everyone so that angle isnt there either for yuji, that nikka just wanted friends and now he has em.


Idk seems like you're ignoring what the show is tryna tell you and just comparing how it fits into typical shounen troupes where they go heavy into the MC from the beginning.



JJK feels more like dorohedoro, where you dont get much info on the MC until way later

shyt is clearly different from most other shounen so idk why the MC is expected to be dealt with the same as other MC's. They try to take a left when you expect a right every time.

How SAO manages to have crazy production values after all this time blows my mind breh and the wild thing is, this run was actually good until until the main SAO characters came back into things,

shyt was movie-tier quality throughout despite being absolutely absurd.

But in one episode both sisters already surpassed Yuji as characters, so now we're up to at least four.

oh nah its fair and honest. yuji is basically the plot device between a bunch of far more interesting characters

ya it’s crazy the quality it had the alicization arc but I enjoyed it a lot
I can understand bout the main characters joining in besides asuna imo
Adding in the movie character was nice it wasn’t in the novels either for it

The "focus on Yuji" was mostly just explaining the world of JJK to us breh, or am i forgetting something? What else did they do with him besides talk to Sukuna? They havent told us shyt else really, so it's a given that damn near ANY character with a full flashback is gonna seem more interesting

You making it seem like they tried to really give us a Yuji backstory and it failed, i never saw that we aint there yet mang so i cant call it on him yet


And imo his logic has been pretty straightforward like everyone else

Maki jumped out into this world cuz staying at home woulda been fukking wack for her, thats what she said this last ep



How is that any more complex than Yuji flat out saying he was a lonely ass nikka and that's why he went along with Gojo and Megumi so easily?

Panda is just a panda that isnt a panda, didnt have any motivation he just grew up in that shyt since he was made there

Momo is there because she's conforming to society's norms, again not that complex, but she gave a detailed explanation so it seems like it

What im getting at is most of these students have pretty straightforward and simple reasons for being there just like Yuji, i dont see them as being MORE complex, we just have more information on why they doin it

We dont know why itadori was so lonely yet, once we do he'll pretty much be right there with most of everyone else imo


Mai and mechmaru are the only two so far i think are more complex because they were kinda stripped of their choices and are conflicted with resentment because of that, and it looks like both of them got that shyt beat out of them during this arc
