I've been reading about Toshirama (editor for a lot of shonen jump manga) and this guy been GOING IN
Yet I get looked at as a hater for my thoughts on demon slayer
- he turned down one piece when it was being pitched to jump. Others on the team basically had to give it the greenlight against him. He thought Luffy being able to stretch his body was corny. Oda said if OP turns out to be a success he has to hold that L and years later he finally said fine
- In 1996 he ethered Kubo (BLEACH creator) saying his manga is terrible and he needs to watch Fist of the North Star and Dragonball to get better
- This whole interview he did with Muira (berserk) FEATURE: "Berserk" Discussion Explores Kentarō Miura's Roots This gives a good look into how both of them think. Toshirama said he would never let vol 13 (the eclipse) happen. He saw it coming after griffith got with the princess and he thought the writing was outta control. He also would do backstories the SJ way. Muira was like "I tried

This nikka sound like a booth poster when they hear a artist or a song for the first time in their sheltered flabby lives and call it trash and how the record gon flop and said artist or song end up doing the complete opposite.
He right about the android saga tho. That arc woulda been trash it the final villians were just dr. Gero and the fat mr. Mime android.

Truth right here. Their most "terrifying" ability was absorbing energy if they grabbed someone, or absorbing energy if its thrown at them like a wave/blast.
They had absolutely ZERO hands.

and in his defense, Luffy IS corny as fukk - Luffy just manages to be endearing somehow due to the goofy ass art style

One piece's central theme is about manliness. Luffy is Oda's idealized embodiment of manliness and everything it represents to him. And what makes his characterization better than others is that the story weaves those themes into every arc/ally so it resonates. His cosigns feel genuine.Uh huh.
Zoro and Luffy connected over how high their ambitions were
Sanji was moved by luffy's unwavering faith in pursing his dream during a time he was p*ssyfooting on his own
Nami was moved by his loyalty and people show up for her after having being forced into a life of decieit.
Usopp looks up to Luffy's courage while Luffy respects Usopp even though he's weak because he can tell Usopp is willing to gut it out to become a better version of himself. To contrast, when he first met Coby who is also a coward Luffy told him "Sheesh you're a p*ssy.....i dont like you" In their first interaction cause Coby admitted he was too scared to pursue his dream
Goku is stupid just cause, asta is loud because the huge text looks cool on page spreads. A million and 1 anime characters yell how they fight for their friends.
Luffy's gag stupidity plays into the central theme of him neededing friends/a crew: cause he knows he wouldnt be shyt without them.
It's all very deliberate. And is consistent for 25+ years. Good writing is good writing and the results speak for themselves

When being #LiterateGang backfires
shyt really only pops off like once every 15 chapters in My Hero. Legit just flashbacks or characters talking to themselves.
No good revelations, and we keep having a lot of panels dedicated to characters who haven't had development in like 50+ chapters but I'm supposed to care for them.
shyt has actually made me not want to watch new My Hero. The series has peaked imo w/ the last Endeavor fight.
