Majo No Tabitabi is such a strange show. The first two episodes play out like you will get some casual SoL series about a traveling witch and her everyday encounters. Then by the third episode they suddenly inject a ton of nihilism and darkness into the world and it's less SoL and more about her experiencing the broken state of the world. Some examples:

Elaina, the witch, meets a boy who is gathering happiness in a bottle to show to his maid. He is in love with her and thinks she's sad. Elaina remembers a similar story of a man collecting images of faraway places for his bed-ridden wife, but can't remember the ending of the story. Arriving at the house, Elaina realizes the maid is in fact a slave girl sexually abused and beaten by her owner, the father of the house. Seeing how delusioned the boy is about her state of being she is reluctant to give him advice but tells him perhaps he should show her the bottled happiness. He shows it to the slave girl and the happiness are images of people enjoying every day life in freedom. Elaina departs but notes that the complexion on the face of the slave girl had changed. She then remembers the ending of the story. Seeing the images of faraway destinations she could never reach the bed-ridden woman grew even more I'll and died. Elaina considers turning back but thinking of the girl's changed complexion she does not, afraid of what she will find. The implication is that the slave girl realized she will never be able to experience simple happiness as the sort the boy showed her and will kill herself.

:picard:

Elaina travels into a kingdom ravaged and destroyed and not a soul alive. Upon entering the castle she discovers a young woman with amnesia. The woman states she has no recollection but found a letter on her stating that she is the princess of the country. An enormous monster is ravaging the country at night to get to her but it cannot enter the castle and within a week's time she will have to kill it. She asks for Elaina's assistance and over the span of a week the princess slowly recovers some of her memories including the fact she is also a witch herself.

Elaina helps build a trap to lure the monster in but refuses to participate in the fight. However, her curiosity gets the best of her and she watches the fight from a distance. The princess successfully manages to trap the monster and starts tearing it to pieces with her increasingly powerful magic. As she does this her face becomes gleeful as she sees flashbacks of a horrific murder and she starts to laugh.

As the monster lays wounded and dying she has remembered all. She was in love with a servant and had his baby. The king of the country, insulted by this, had the servant and child brutally executed. Driven mad the princess planned revenge. Utilizing powerful magic she cursed her father into becoming the enormous monster that would roam aimlessly and kill all the citizens of the country while fully conscious of his being. Knowing the magic would temporarily cost her her memory she wrote the letter herself to prepare killing her own father after he had destroyed the kingdom.

She then decapitates the monster, her own father, and retreats to the castle of her destroyed kingdom. And Elaina, of course, she travels on.

I just finished the manga. Pure flames.

With all the comics, movies, tv shows, games, cartoons, etc i've experienced.. this one of my GOATs. Everything Gantz manga should've been when it comes to sticking the landing and making you feel satisfied if not thrilled with how each character arc wrapped up.

A female empowerment story that's really just a dope story about females whoopin ass and forming a sisterhood. Marinated with DBZ power ups and HxH technique fukkery.
Wish the anime had more seasons

dads would be proud

well, maybe not Sesshomaru.

Yashahime four reveals Rin is inside the tree of ages.
mnJdBgs.png

Why is unknown. Maybe related to Sesshomaru denouncing his title as a demon lord, consequence was Rin being targeted and trapped. He's trying to free her from that and it has something to do with his daughters helping out. Probably related to the reason he dropped both off near Kaede.

That Sesshomaru would make such a choice shows har far he's developed since the start....motivations changed completely after developing some human compassion, understanding why his father made the decisions he did.

Tree of ages asks the kids to beat one of the dog demon lords, someone who was a rival to Sesshomaru's father, because he has rejected that title similar to Sesshomaru and walked a different path. So something about denying destiny is causing some sort of conflict in this world. Seems to be the key to figuring out what has happened to everyone. I don't think the tree of ages is an antagonist in any way. Doubt Kikyo's visage would be used for that purpose.

The battle vs the root demon was great. Those kids aren't weak at all, and they've yet to even show their demon sides. Next week preview shows Moroha doing just that and adopting Inuyasha's yellow eyes

She's the best part of this sequel so far. Not only because she's a cross between the most liked characters of the original, but has the type of gung-ho personality that's easy to root for. Has been the source of most of the comedy thus far and also spearheads any of the action scenes, of which are pretty well animated.

there's also an image of Miroku in the teaser. Which would have to also mean Sango shows up and so do their kids. But it could be also be a flashback. Miyoga shows up in the preview as well. You'd like to think he knows where Inuyasha is

I think the same dude made Dexters laboratory, I never really watched Samurai Jack to confirm.

but the show is basically a caveman and female trex teaming up and basically getting into adventures and fukking shyt up fighting other creatures. Show has no dialogue so it hits different, but works cuz you vibing with the emotional expressions and music.
