few loops of Ed in episode 12

remember someone saying she was an autistic weirdo and worthless to Bebop

The latter is false as she fulfills a role that no one else on the ship does, and helps move the story forward in many eps (Finds Julia's location for Spike that triggers Jupiter Jazz, deactivates the rogue satellite, is key to the Chessmaster Hex operation, has her own solo mission w/ Ein, etc). Not to mention her niche in the crew as a family member (the lone child; Jet looks over her as a parental figure. Faye begrudgingly acts as an older sister)

The former is true. She does have screws loose and doesn't act anything like a "normal" person. But her eccentricity is about what you'd expect from a child who is out of touch with reality and had no parental figures to teach her discipline. Just a free spirit doing what makes her happy, and there's something very admirable about that. Helps to inject light hearted comedy into a world that is otherwise full of cynical adults. Plays off Spike, Jet, Faye and Ein very well

She is pretty easily my favorite Bebop character, and probably top five in anime w/ Joe, Yusuke, Nodame & Onizuka.
