About to wrap up a semester taking Japanese. It’s a fun language to learn for the invested anime fan because you recognize common phrases and find meanings to titles and names that don’t make sense in English.
Never knew that the entire language is based off sounds rather than individual letters and that’s why they struggle so much with pronunciation in English. There is no L, so Lion becomes ライオン or 猊, pronounced as “Raion”. They have an entire system of characters dedicated to foreign words that for the most part don’t sound anything like the original.
Actually writing katakana and hiragana isn’t difficult; kanji is a bytch and so is grammar. I don’t envy translators who do this for free.
Just finished watching it. Wat u going thru in life rn for that to hit any kind of heartstrings for u brehI'm starting on Inuyashiki right now and this is.... definitely made from Gantz' cloth

Misunderstood? He's a psychopath with the means to carry out whats he's always wanted to do.Hiro Shishigami from Inuyashiki. Is a misunderstood youth, the reasons for his actions is because he is not human anymore, as a consequence he's not able to cope with his new life, hence why he resolves to killing people out of boredom and bitterness towards those who did him wrong. He's also aware that his actions will not lead to consequences because he's above humanity. You can tell he want's to become human again judging by his dream's that he's human again.
